pink birds: Pretty in Pink-Florida's Other Pink Bird-The Roseate Spoonbill - 03/23/11 12:55 PM
Roseate Spoonbills are not usually seen this far north in Florida so I was pleasantly surprised to step out onto my patio last night and see this guy. They are a very pretty pink and this one had the darker stripe on his wings. He must have been eating a lot of shrimp but not in my pond, I’m sure we don’t have any. Kathy Streib posted about Spoonbills in Disney World earlier today too. Spoonbills use their unique, spatulate bills to strain small food items.
