blogging: Blogging SEO: Begin at the Beginning! - 04/07/09 07:07 AM
Yesterday, I asked the AR Community what topics I should cover, and I got a ton of great feedback...  With Harrison Painter starting off the requests by asking for some more SEO information...
Not wanting to get ahead of myself, I thought I'd start with an overview of what is SEO in the context of blogging.   Of course, I look forward to going into more detail in the future, but we gotta start somewhere, so might as well start right at the beginning!  ;)
There are as many ways to understand optimizing your website as there are SEO "experts"... In many … (77 comments)

blogging: 4RealzEd Day 25: Getting Featured - 05/23/08 05:11 AM
During our Week of ActiveRain,  we covered a lot of ground!  Including:
Comment on Blog Posts Writing a Blog Post Inserting Widgets into Your Blog Engage with Groups For the final day, I'd like to bring the various pieces together by explaining a bit about what makes AR tick.Points! With AR, you can get points for all kinds of activities.  The activities that can start to add up include: (1) Writing blog posts, (2) leaving comments, (3) Inviting others to AR, and (4) getting "featured." It's kind of standard operating procedure for AR devotees to say that they don't engage … (11 comments)

blogging: 4RealzEd Day 22: Writing a blog post - 05/19/08 06:20 PM
Writing a blog post doesn't have to be difficult and in the seminar, I mentioned how valuable your "sent items" folder can be for inspiration for blog posts.    With that in mind, today I want you to open up your sent items folder and find an email that interested you when you read it!
And remember... If this is your first blog post don't stress the details.   The good part about your first blog post is that no one is reading it!  ;)
I couldn't emphasize enough that for your first post focus on something you found interesting.   Maybe … (10 comments)

blogging: 4RealzEd Day 21: Comment on Blog Posts - 05/18/08 11:20 PM
ActiveRain is many things to many people... but fundamentally, it is a free blog platform that can do two things for you:
Help you quickly build a strong presence on the web Engage with a community of real estate professionals who are more than happy to educate you on just about any real estate issue conceivable The second part is especially true if you're willing to become part of the community and share your knowledge and experience as well...
I think it is important to note that for ActiveRain, blog posts and the comments that follow are the lifeblood of … (14 comments)

blogging: 5 Days of ActiveRain - 05/18/08 10:27 PM
As many of you may already know, I few months ago I teamed up with Jim marks to start a company with the promise of educating real estate professionals on how they can improve their business using internet marketing.
In additional to the four-hour seminar we offer, we've also put together a 90-day follow up course where we introduce attendees to the various social networks by giving them one simple activity to do each week. This week, I'm planning to introduce the attendees to ActiveRain, so I've put together the following five activities:

blogging: Timing is Everything! - 02/27/08 08:27 AM
I was asked recently to talk a bit about how I fell into giving seminars... and like most good things, it is a story of waiting for the starts to align.
As anyone whose heard me speak before knows, I came into real estate in the most roundabout way...   I started Rain City Guide about three years ago as a way to market my wife's (brand new) real estate business.
The site got so popular, so fast, that I started giving seminars (or as we called them, Bloginars) with one of the contributors named Russ Cofano.   I had a blast … (24 comments)

blogging: Teaching Effective Blogging Techniques? - 02/04/07 07:17 PM
Word's been out for a little while that I will be giving two seminars this week that give tips on blogging.  Both of the seminars will be in LA with one in Long Beach (Tuesday) and the other in Glendale (Wednesday).
As I mentioned in Brian's post, if you're already active on ActiveRain, then you will likely know a bunch of what I'm going to go over... Nonetheless, please feel free to join me and/or invite any of your coworkers who still haven't swallowed the blogging pill! :)
To give you an idea of where I'm going... I take on two major … (8 comments)

Based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback I got from ActiveRain members, I just posted a wonderful interview with Kristal Kraft on Rain City Guide.
Prove to me that you don't leave comments on ActiveRain for the points by leaving your comments about this interview on Rain City Guide! :)
By the way, I've been posting lots and lots of interviews lately, so if you haven't checked them out, I highly recommend reading them!
