Port Burwell on Lake Erie was selected by The Elgin Military Museum over Port Stanley as the home for the decommissioned Canadian Naval submarine HMCS Ojibwa.
It is estimated the sub and accompanying museum will bring 45 jobs and about 100,000 tourists a year to Port Burwell with a population of 1,200.

Yes folks, you read that right. Two small towns on Lake Erie, Canadian side (of course), Port Burwell and Port Stanley are aggressively lobbying the Elgin Military Museum in St. Thomas which has already acquired  the decommissioned submarine HMCS Ojibwa from the Canadian Navy.
They plan to save the submarine from the naval scrapyard and tow it to their community and use it as a tourist attraction which would not only employ an estimated 40+ people but attract 100,000 visitors as well.
