Jupiter's 12-and-under baseball team defeated the defending champion Mexican team 5-4 to capture the Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen MD. on Saturday August 16, 2008. Kevin Fry, who batted .630 with four homers and nine RBI during the week was named the team's MVP. Mexico's MVP was Mario Rodriguez, who had a homer and single and three RBI in the title game. Lance Fry, Jerrad Ward and Griffin Garland also made the all-tournament team and shortstop Cody Wilson was chosen for the all-defensive team.

Due to the recent increase in declining property values here in Florida there has been an explosion of "short sale" transactions wherein the consideration or contract sales price is less than the total underlying indebtedness.
