LET'S TALK TEXTURE - HOME STAGING VANCOUVER
Variety is the spice of life.  Creating a stage with many different textures, creates warmth, interest and delight.  Can you imagine a home buyer's heart beating just a little faster at the thought of lounging on a smooth, leather sofa, curled under a soft, scrumptious faux throw?  Texture plays a very important part in creating a pleasing environment.  Let's break it down with a few examples...

Natural elements often contain the most interesting textures.  This nubbly, gnarly twig almost looks alive, with its twists and turns.  The twig is laying on a smooth, … (38 comments)

Wine & Design at Ledson Winery Sonoma
What does a Vancouver Home Stager do after her Real Estate Staging Association Conference winds up in San Francisco?  She goes on a quick wine tour of Sonoma, of course!

After the RESA Conference was finished, my gal pal and fellow Edmonton Home Stager, Peg Barcelo-Jackson and I rented a car and drove to Sonoma for a whirlwind one-night stay.  We stayed at the beautiful Ledson Winery Hotel in downtown Sonoma, then travelled the next day to their main winery and vineyard.

My first thought when we arrived at the … (16 comments)

Google+ Pirates, Photos, Foodies and More
When I first started out on Google+ to promote my Vancouver Home Staging business a few months ago, I thought, ho hum...  just another social media site to have to navigate.  I've always struggled with Twitter, and I find Facebook pretty mindless.  Never in my wildest dreams did I think Google+ would take me on such a universal, creative and awe inspiring journey!
Things started off slowly and quietly at first.  Active Rain offered a webinar about Google+ with A/R's own Eric Proulx.  I had already dabbled a bit on G+, but Eric pretty much … (26 comments)

Visit Stratford, Ontario
What did I do for my summer vacation?  I used to dread the first day back at school, when the teacher would ask us to write a short essay on what we did for our summer vacation.  How times have changed.  Fast forward to today, and I'm more than happy to share my wonderful trip to Stratford, Ontario this past September. As a Vancouver Home Stager, I have a love of all things to do with the arts, including admiring all this city has to offer.

Why Stratford?  Perhaps this isn't every West Coasters prime vacation destination, … (10 comments)

Vancouver Home Stager: The Quirky & Canadian at the IDS West Show 2012 Final
This year's Interior Design Show West (IDS West) Vancouver was truly a stellar exhibit.  As a Vancouver Home Stager, it's extremely important to keep up with the trends and happenings in the design world.  I was truly inspired, and plan on incorporating what I saw at the show into some of my staging designs.  Here are more highlights of the show.

Meet Exit Stage Right Home Staging Vancouver

Hello.  My name is Sally Weatherley, and I'm the Owner and Lead Designer at Exit Stage Right Home Staging Vancouver.  I'd love to tell you a little bit about myself.  I was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. and have watched this city change, develop, morph and grow.  I originally had a passion for languages, and studied French for many years, living in Quebec City and Grenoble, France, in an effort to become more fluent.
During my early wanderings, I was inspired by all things European, and to this day, will often sneak … (26 comments)

Piero Lissoni at IDS West Show Vancouver 2012
As a Vancouver Home Stager, I always like to keep up with the latest design trends in interior design.  This year’s Interior Design Show West was a true inspiration.  We were treated to a little slice of European elegance with keynote speaker and Italian designer and architect, Piero Lissoni.

Living Space was key in bringing the charming, affable and self-effacing Lissoni to Vancouver to give insight into the various elements and principles he has to consider when designing key pieces of furniture.  Through a slide show, the charismatic and passionate Lissoni explained … (20 comments)

As Vancouver Home Stagers and Designers, we were thrilled to meet Tommy Smythe, Toronto Designer and self-professed sidekick and BFF to Sarah Richardson, of HGTV’S Sarah 101.  Tommy’s talk at the Interior Design Show IDS West was entitled Stylish Solutions for Small Spaces.  Having lived in a 185 square foot studio apartment in Cabbagetown, Toronto, Tommy knows first hand what he’s talking about!  Oh, and how do you like that?  My shirt matched Tommy's bow tie!!!

What's Hot this Year in Home Decor?  This Vancouver Home Stager went to Investigate-Part 2
WOOD AND ROOTS – Twisted, gnarled roots are all the rage this year and serve well as bases for glass coffee tables, and console tables.  Their interesting shapes serve as a naturally beautiful but functional piece of art.  The addition of wood also gives the eye a rest from all the shiny, sparkly accessories that are de rigueur.  The combination of matte and shiny objects creates depth and interest.

Vancouver Aquarium - Colour Inspiration for a Vancouver Home Stager
As a Vancouver Home Stager, I'm always looking for the latest colour trends and great colour combinations.  The best place to find colours that work together and inspire is in nature.  A recent visit to the Vancouver Aquarium opened my eyes to a whole new world of colour combinations.
These jelly fish are a real show stopper.  The complimentary colours, blue and orange, create a vibrant, attention grabbing sight.

The pink, cream and brown combination here is one of my favourites.  Not only are the colours beautiful, but the … (29 comments)

Are You A Lover Or A Fighter?  Are You A Chopper And A Thrower? - Vancouver Home Staging
I was sitting down with a cup of tea and relishing the most recent arrival of one of my favourite design magazines (unfortunately, I can't remember which one), when I came across a fun article that made me stop and ponder...  Oh, and no, I don't really care if you're a lover or a fighter - I just thought that might grab your attention (he he he)  Am I a chopper?  Am I a folder?  Hmmmm.  I thought I'd toss this question out … (36 comments)

Before & After Photos - Home Staging Vancouver, B.C.
My company, Exit Stage Right, had the pleasure of staging this condo for sale in the Cambie area of Vancouver.  This property was an absolute delight to stage.  The building is only three years old, and it has a lovely view of downtown Vancouver and the mountains to the North.  The finishes are high end, and there are many professionals in this building, including many in the medical profession, due to its proximity to Vancouver General Hospital.
We sourced furniture that would fit well in a condo-sized setting, using several glass pieces … (33 comments)

A Bird's Eye View - Vancouver Home Staging
One of the pleasures of being a Home Stager, is seeing my city, Vancouver, from various view points.  I live on the North Shore, and view Vancouver from atop a mountain.  However, it's always fun to look at the city from a completely different perspective.  The problem with living on a mountain, is that you don't actually see the mountain, because you're on it!
Here are some photos of the view from a condo we recently staged.  This condo is in the Cambie area, a fantastic location, close to great shopping and restaurants.  … (12 comments)

Paris Haute Couture Meets Vancouver Home Staging
When I was in Paris recently... one of my favourite past times was keeping a keen eye out for the latest in clothing fashion.  Whether through observing well dressed Parisians rushing off to work in their 4" stilettos on cobbled streets, or getting a glimpse of the latest scarf or purse as it rushed by, it was evident that Paris Haute Couture is alive and well, and living in Paris!
This window display in a clothing store in Paris certainly caught my eye.  I love the combination of the colour red with the leopard … (28 comments)

What's In A Name?  That Which We Call A Rose-Vancouver Home Staging
When I was in Paris (oops, there I go again!), I would walk down from our hotel to the local cafe for my daily cafe au lait and croissant.  Every day, I would pass this flower store on Victor Hugo street, and just looking at the display of roses would set my heart a flutter.  I had an emotional response to this flower shop.  Actually, the store didn't even sell flowers in general, but specifically, roses!  My mind wandered back to Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet play, and the quote:  … (32 comments)

Design Week - Paris 2011 - A Vancouver Home Stager/Designer's Take
"When I was in Paris"...  Oh, I'm sorry, but I just love saying that!  When I was in Paris this past September, my trip actually coincided with Paris Design Week.  The whole city embraces design, and the local shops display their take on design.  There is also a design trade show, which I was planning on attending, but I got my dates mixed up, and missed the show by a day!  Oh, believe me, I'm still kicking myself for that one!
Not to be deterred, I grabbed my camera and … (22 comments)

Steve Jobs - You Made Me Love Computers - Thank You!
I was saddened to read of Steve Job's passing.  Ironically, I first heard this sad news when I went to pick up my newspaper from the front door.  The Vancouver Sun newspaper had a wonderful article about this great man.  That said, I did love reading President Obama's comment:  "And there may be no greater tribute to Steve's success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented".
I could go on about what a great visionary Steve Jobs was, and delve … (18 comments)

Post Cards from Paris - Who is this Statue and Where is it Located?
For those of you who don't know, VB (aka Vegas Bob) has a great group organized called "Statues Around the World", where you can post interesting statues you've taken photos of in your travels.  Well, for those of you who know me, I'm presently sitting in my favourite city in the world, Paris.  Did you know that Paris is chock-a-block with statues?  I found this particularly beautiful statue today, and couldn't resist posting it.  Ok, I've given you a huge hint...  of course, this statue is in … (21 comments)
