north vancouver home staging: Vancouver Home Staging-Vacant Condo Before & After Photos - 06/17/12 07:12 AM
Vancouver Home Staging-Vacant Condo Before & After Photos
When our Home Staging company arrived at this vacant condo, situated in North Vancouver, B.C., near Lonsdale Quay, we were uninspired by the beige walls and empty, cold looking rooms.  This condo needed to be shaken up with colour, to appeal to a young, hip, buyer demographic.

Of course, we are always inspired by what we see outside the windows, and in this case, this condo had a gorgeous view of the North Shore mountains, with a glimpse to the ocean and downtown city views beyond.  Due to its location, we decided … (31 comments)

north vancouver home staging: What is that Green Thing Underneath My Sink?! - 10/04/10 10:34 AM
What is that Green Thing Underneath My Sink?!

If you carefully open the door to the cabinet underneath my kitchen sink, you will definitely find something green.  Don't worry, though, it's not a growing fungi, but a bottle of environmentally friendly or "green" All Purpose Cleanser.
One of the areas our company, Exit Stage Right, harps on about, is that when you present your home for sale, it must be Q-Tip clean!  No one is interested in buying and living in your dirty home, so it's very important to ensure that all surfaces, floors, windows, light fixtures, and appliances are … (50 comments)

north vancouver home staging: Cute Little Bungalow Staged - Autumnal Inspiration - 09/22/10 03:41 PM
Cute Little Bungalow Staged - Automnal Inspiration

Exit Stage Right recently staged this cute little bungalow for sale.  We were inspired by the coming autumn season, and chose colours accordingly.  I also couldn't help myself - it has been a while since I've staged with my signature "Eiffel Tower".  I did enjoy throwing in a little French flair.
The home was vacant, and feeling dull and uninspiring.  By staging this home, we added warmth and character without overdoing it.  Colours were pulled from the started point, the artwork above the fireplace.  We also decided to paint the fireplace a slightly … (22 comments)

Fix -Er Up Before You Sell

Small repairs made before a house goes on the market, can save you thousands of dollars in the long run.
Recently, we staged this West Coast contemporary home.  The home had been a rental for quite a while, and when the tenants left, the home needed a little TLC.  The home owner had the walls painted in the interior, but when I went for a pre-staging look at the home, I found there were some items that still needed attention.
The hardwood flooring was in great condition, but the carpeted areas were quite … (37 comments)

Whimsy Can Sell Your House - North Vancouver Home Staging

Recently, we staged a West Coast contemporary home in North Vancouver, B.C.  This home has a youthful, modern appearance, and we wanted to attract a young, urban couple, or young family.  One of the key ways to make this home more appealing, was to add a little bit of whimsy to the decor.  We didn't want to take ourselves too seriously.  We decided to add a little humour to this space.
Above is a photo of the kitchen eat-in area.  Using mid-century modern furniture added a fun, retro feeling.  We … (14 comments)

West Coast Contemporary - Before & After Staging Photos
There are quite a few West Coast contemporary homes in my area.  There seemed to be an explostion of this style of home in the 70's and 80's.  These homes aren't to everyone's liking, so it's important to make the interior as appealing as possible.
Here are some before & after shots of a recent home staged by Exit Stage Right.

The main living areas are located upstairs, and have a fairly modern look, so we chose to furnish the main living area … (33 comments)

Life! by Design - Turning a Negative into a Positive

“I am not leaving my family and moving to Australia”!  With that, my mother threw tickets to Australia into the fire.  This, apparently, is how the story went.  My mother and father both hail from London, England.  Dad worked at Lloyd’s of London, and was fed up with the rat race of taking the tube every day to work.  He longed to travel to a commonwealth country and start a new life.  My mum, on the other hand, was very close to her 3 sisters in England, and didn’t … (15 comments)

north vancouver home staging: Home Staging in North Vancouver, B.C. - Beautiful River Property - 04/14/10 04:03 PM
North Vancouver Home Staging, Exit Stage Right, was excited to stage this property for sale.  This is a lovely home in North Vancouver, situated overlooking a river, very near Bridgman Park.  The home is traditional in style, and has great curb appeal.  Exit Stage Right also included a colour consultation for the exterior, in order for buyers to visualize the exterior's potential with new paint colours.
The home has great bones and just needed some colour and artwork to bring out the home's features.  As it's spring, we decided to go with a spring theme, adding floral artwork, and bringing … (16 comments)

north vancouver home staging: Lower Lonsdale Real Estate Home Staging - 03/25/10 08:06 AM

LOWER LONSDALE REAL ESTATE HOME STAGING
Lower Lonsdale Real Estate Home Staging – Lower Lonsdale real estate in North Vancouver is a hot market right now.   What kind of buyer would be attracted to this area?  In my opinion, either a young, urban couple, or retirees who are downsizing are attracted to Lower Lonsdale.

What attracts these individuals to this area?  Lower Lonsdale is going through a major overhaul.  Situated near prime waterfront, the City of North Vancouver is reclaiming the waterfront area, and extending a seawall, which will eventually enable people to walk all the way to Deep Cove.

north vancouver home staging: TOP 5 TIPS TO READY YOUR HOME FOR SALE - 03/02/10 02:45 PM
I just wrote this article today for the B.C. Real Estate Convention e-newsletter.  We will be exhibiting in this show, and thought I would share these quick tips.  I created the photos using Picnik, after taking Jackson West's webinar (see his latest Blog).  Enjoy!
TOP 5 TIPS TO READY YOUR HOME FOR SALE
Did you know that 90% of buyers view a listing of a home for sale on the internet before they even decide to visit the home in person?
Once a byers enters a home, they form an opinion of that home within the first 8 seconds.

north vancouver home staging: Olympic Fever - Vancouver 2010 - 02/24/10 07:11 AM
We're into the home stretch of the Olympic Games here in Vancouver.  We are still rejoicing for several reason:  It is finally snowing on Cypress Mountain, Canada just won a gold medal for pairs ice dance - a first for Canada, and the Canadian men's hockey team is meeting Russia for a face off tonight.  All in all, this has been a very exciting time for our city, with a party atmosphere every night.  Canadians are not normally known for excessive patriotism, so it has been interesting to see all the red and white sweaters, and faces painted with red maple … (4 comments)

Fraser Valley Real Estate Trade Show  FRASER VALLEY REAL ESTATE TRADE SHOW

EXIT STAGE RIGHT Home Staging – North Vancouver, B.C. was pleased to attend the Fraser Valley Real Estate Trade Show in Langley. We enjoyed collaborating with our colleagues: Mila Herenda, MIZO DESIGN SOLUTIONS, Yvonne Swain, HINT OF ELEGANCE, and Nancy Glover, an organizer, MIND YOUR MATTER. We had a great time at this event, and enjoyed meeting real estate professionals. It was interesting to learn that some realtors already had strong affiliations with staging companies, while others were just starting out and were just learning about staging. Some didn’t believe in staging, while others … (11 comments)

north vancouver home staging: The Undefined Room - 01/13/10 12:23 PM
WHAT TO DO WITH AN UNDEFINED ROOM?
Undefined rooms confuse buyers.  They don't exactly know what the room is supposed to be, or how they should employ the room, should they purchase the property. The potential buyer just leaves, shaking their head, more at a loss than when they arrived at the house.  We, as stagers, need to spell these rooms out for potential buyers.  We need to keep it simple.  Here are a few rooms that needed defining:
THIS ROOM WAS CONFUSING.  THERE WAS A PIANO, CHESS BOARD, FIRST NATIONS PADDLES, AND TWO ARMCHAIRS.  IT WAS TOO SMALL FOR A … (19 comments)

north vancouver home staging: What About the Artwork? - 01/12/10 07:05 AM
I recently staged a townhouse (2500 sq ft - more like a house!).  The townhouse had beautiful finishes - lovely granite countertops, beautiful hardwood floors, a lovely open concept kitchen/family room area.  And yet, why was I left feeling cold?  What was missing?  Aha - the artwork!  Artwork made this townhouse come alive.  It added warmth and personality.  Here are some before and afters.
