real estate home staging: Having a Hoot Staging! - 06/02/14 07:27 AM
Having a Hoot Staging!
We had a "hoot" staging a townhouse recently.  This occupied townhouse needed a bit of art and some accessories to make it shine.  There were three bedrooms, the Master, the Guestroom and the... uh... Owl Room.  Yes, I said "Owl Room"!

Tucked away in the 3rd bedroom was the sweetest little Burrowing Owl I've ever seen... OK, actually, it's the only real life Burrowing Owl I've ever seen.  The closest to this would be the wine label on a local B.C. wine called "Burrowing Owl".  I was very surpised to see how small this little fellow … (15 comments)

LET'S TALK TEXTURE - HOME STAGING VANCOUVER
Variety is the spice of life.  Creating a stage with many different textures, creates warmth, interest and delight.  Can you imagine a home buyer's heart beating just a little faster at the thought of lounging on a smooth, leather sofa, curled under a soft, scrumptious faux throw?  Texture plays a very important part in creating a pleasing environment.  Let's break it down with a few examples...

Natural elements often contain the most interesting textures.  This nubbly, gnarly twig almost looks alive, with its twists and turns.  The twig is laying on a smooth, … (38 comments)

Occupied Home Staging Vancouver - Before & After Photos
"Out with Africa"
As an experienced, professional Home Stager in Vancouver, one of my favourite types of home to stage is an occupied property.  With occupied properties, there is already furniture in the house, and it's our job, as Stagers, to work with what the home owner already has, but improve the look through furniture rearrangement, editing, creating a cohesive colour scheme, and generally creating rooms that will appeal to the target home buyer.

What is the value of staging an occupied property?  Very simply, it keeps the costs down for … (32 comments)

real estate home staging: A Vancouver Stager’s Top 10 Staging Tips for a Staged Bathroom - 12/27/12 02:49 PM
A Vancouver Stager’s Top 10 Staging Tips for a Great Staged Bathroom
As a Vancouver, B.C. Home Stager, I like to follow these simple guidelines when staging a bathroom for sale:
1.      Edit Personal Items
In this Powder Room/very small bathroom, the bathroom counters were full of personal items.  Home buyers don’t want to see messy toothpaste tubes and used toothbrushes.  These items are too personal.  Purchase plastic baskets from the dollar store, fill them with all your personal toiletries and store them away in the bathroom cupboards.

real estate home staging: DUNDARAVE WEST VANCOUVER HOME STAGING VIDEO - 09/19/12 08:48 AM
DUNDARAVE WEST VANCOUVER HOME STAGING VIDEO
Staging this Dundarave, West Vancouver condo for sale was a real delight.  Before staging this property, many pieces of furniture were edited, new carpet was laid, and the walls were painted a fresh, neutral colour.  Once we had a nice, blank canvas, we kept a few of the owner’s pieces of furniture, and added some rental furnishings.
Rather than trying to explain the transformation through words, let us show you, through video, what we did to make this property more appealing, and to speak to the demographic and to the great location near Dundarave Village.

real estate home staging: Steps a Vancouver Home Stager follows to stage a Property for Sale - 08/09/12 01:33 PM
What Steps does a Vancouver Home Stager follow to stage a
Property for Sale?
What exactly does a Vancouver Real Estate Home Stager do, from start to finish, to stage a property for sale?  Often I’m hired to stage a property with very little notice.  The client either goes through a REALTOR® and is not involved in the staging details, or they are unaware of what we as Stagers do in the background and only really see the end result on staging day.  As if by magic, the client’s home is transformed into a beautiful show room.  However, behind the scene, … (26 comments)

Vancouver Home Staging-Vacant Condo Before & After Photos
When our Home Staging company arrived at this vacant condo, situated in North Vancouver, B.C., near Lonsdale Quay, we were uninspired by the beige walls and empty, cold looking rooms.  This condo needed to be shaken up with colour, to appeal to a young, hip, buyer demographic.

Of course, we are always inspired by what we see outside the windows, and in this case, this condo had a gorgeous view of the North Shore mountains, with a glimpse to the ocean and downtown city views beyond.  Due to its location, we decided … (31 comments)

Sutton West Coast Realty Gala - Vancouver 2012
We had a wonderful time at the 3rd Annual Sutton West Coast Realty Gala last night, and I just wanted to share some photos of this fun event.  My company, Exit Stage Right, was thrilled to be asked to participate as a sponsor at this year's gala.

Sutton literally rolled out the red carpet to its Agents, and upon arrival at the beautiful Westin Bayshore Hotel, were greeted by the glamorous Merrily Hackett, General Manager/Owner of Sutton West Coast Realty.  It certainly felt like being at the Oscars, with "paparazzi" lined up … (27 comments)

Home Staging is like living the movie, The Devil Wears Prada
Have you ever felt like life resembles art?  This Vancouver Home Stager often feels like she’s playing the part of Stanley Tucci in The Devil Wears Prada!
Please, let me explain further.  I know I don’t look like Stanley Tucci, but let’s face it; his role as Nigel, the art director at Runway Magazine, transformed Anne Hathaway’s character, Andy Sachs, from a frumpy, lumpy invisible being, into a stunning, stand-out beauty who can’t be ignored.

Really, this is movie is just another new take on the classic … (51 comments)

What's Hot this Year in Home Decor?  This Vancouver Home Stager went to Investigate-Part 2
WOOD AND ROOTS – Twisted, gnarled roots are all the rage this year and serve well as bases for glass coffee tables, and console tables.  Their interesting shapes serve as a naturally beautiful but functional piece of art.  The addition of wood also gives the eye a rest from all the shiny, sparkly accessories that are de rigueur.  The combination of matte and shiny objects creates depth and interest.

NOSTALGIA – What’s old is new again.  I’m transported in time when … (27 comments)

WHAT’S HOT THIS YEAR IN HOME DÉCOR? THIS VANCOUVER HOME STAGER WENT TO INVESTIGATE
We recently attending the Furniture Show in Las Vegas and viewed, first hand, cutting edge furniture and accessory trends. Here’s a little of what I found.
BLING – We were not disappointed. There was so much sparkle and bling, we could have used a pair of sunglasses! Not a problem, as I’m a huge fan of anything shiny that catches the light. This adds a bit of elegance, luxury and femininity to any décor. Silver mercury glass is still a hot commodity and looks lovely with a … (26 comments)

ADDING A SMILE TO VANCOUVER HOME STAGING
TRY A LITTLE WHIMSY
Adding a smile to Vancouver Home Staging – try a little whimsy!  When styling a property for sale, I don’t like to take myself too seriously.  Yes, it’s important to follow design elements and principles to achieve a well laid out, presentable home for sale.  However, adding a little bit of fun or whimsy makes properties memorable – in a good way!

I was inspired by a recent trip to the Las Vegas Furniture Market.  It seems I’m not alone, as I found many examples of items … (30 comments)

Are You A Lover Or A Fighter?  Are You A Chopper And A Thrower? - Vancouver Home Staging
I was sitting down with a cup of tea and relishing the most recent arrival of one of my favourite design magazines (unfortunately, I can't remember which one), when I came across a fun article that made me stop and ponder...  Oh, and no, I don't really care if you're a lover or a fighter - I just thought that might grab your attention (he he he)  Am I a chopper?  Am I a folder?  Hmmmm.  I thought I'd toss this question out … (36 comments)

I Received a Referral from LA- Thanks to Active Rain!
What would you do if you received a phone call from the Real Estate Staging Association's Stager of the Year, asking if you could help out one of her family members?   Well, I'll tell you what I did.  I nearly plum well fainted!
"Hello Sally, this is Annie Pinsker-Brown calling".
"Sally?  Sally?...are you there?".
"Oh, hi, Annie", I replied weakly (remember, I'd just fainted)!  Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating just a teensy weensy little bit, but you get the idea.
Turns out Annie had a family member living in British Columbia, … (45 comments)

Before & After Photos - Home Staging Vancouver, B.C.
My company, Exit Stage Right, had the pleasure of staging this condo for sale in the Cambie area of Vancouver.  This property was an absolute delight to stage.  The building is only three years old, and it has a lovely view of downtown Vancouver and the mountains to the North.  The finishes are high end, and there are many professionals in this building, including many in the medical profession, due to its proximity to Vancouver General Hospital.
We sourced furniture that would fit well in a condo-sized setting, using several glass pieces … (33 comments)
