ozark missouri real estate: Rustic Retreat on 52 Acres! - 04/16/07 01:01 PM
Secluded close to the Finley River on 52 acres, there's rumored that during the Civil War, troops camped along the river.  Might even be a cemetary nearby.  I can not imagine the difficulty of the times, but I can see how someone would appreciate the serenity and seclusion of this wonderful piece of real estate.
Several weeks ago I wrote an article about waiting on the seller as I enjoyed the watching and photographing the Finley River.
Met with the seller and listed this wonderful piece of real estate.  You actually have to drive IN THE RIVER to reach the road … (0 comments)

ozark missouri real estate: Historic Square In Ozark Missouri - 02/13/07 01:38 PM

This is one of the many towns surrounding Springfield.
The city of Ozark was first settled in 1833 along the banks of the Finley River.   Among the first businesses was a general store, doctors office, wagon and freight yard, and a blacksmith shop.
In 1882, the railroad arrived. Along with it, came new businesses and new growth.
After the Great Depression, the population began to dwindle.  In the past 20 years Ozark has become a wonderful suburb of Springfield.  Conveniently located between Springfield and Branson, new businesses are being established daily and new subdivisions continue to develop.  Christian County was established in 1859 … (2 comments)

ozark missouri real estate: Along The Banks Of The Finley River! - 02/12/07 02:12 PM

One of my first memories of Ozark is driving over the Finley River.
Ozark was first settled in 1883 along the banks of the Finley River when the first mill was built. The original bridge was long removed and the current bridge is in it's place. To read more about the history of Ozark, click here.

Further north of the Finley River Bridge is one of Southwest Missouri's oldest restaurants, Riverside Inn.  Many wedding receptions and community events have been held here since the original building was built.

The old mill closed down shortly after I moved here in … (2 comments)

ozark missouri real estate: Springfield Missouri Real Estate News - 11/15/06 12:40 PM
Read a great article today about the slow down of the Real Estate market throughout the country.  The good news is that in the midwest, prices didn't get out of hand as bad as other parts of the country.  According to David Lereah, the worst of the slowdown is most likely past.  Take a moment to read the article on MSNBC.com.
I failed to realize how the real estate market affects the economy of the entire country.  Furniture stores, lumber years, appliance manufactures, yet some companies prosper.  I have one agent that is busier doing BPO's and can not hardly keep up … (1 comments)

ozark missouri real estate: Super Realtor! - 11/10/06 01:57 PM
When I first started my real  estate career, I had friends that helped out in a local fudge shop in Branson, Missouri.  The property was owned by the son of one of Silver Dollar City's famous blacksmiths.  With his father deceased and his mother getting older, he had tried for several years to sell the property.  Knowing my financial situation wasn't very good, my friends introduced him to me and after several hours of conversation, the owner decided to give me a chance and listed his property for $1,500,000.
Not knowing a thing about selling commercial real estate, I came back to my … (4 comments)

ozark missouri real estate: Springfield Missouri Real Estate News - 11/07/06 11:56 PM
<!-- -->  Welcome to Greene and Christian County, Missouri!!
My real estate business has been sluggish the past few weeks.  I read articles every day on how to cope in a slowing market.  A few tips are:  Reduce advertising spending, call past clients more frequently, get out in front of more people to meet the fewer buyers, and build a sphere of influence.  Working on each of these goals on a daily basis may not seem successful, but it works.  Here's a great article I received this week. Alan Greenspan was in the news yesterday saying the current economic downturn was "likely temporary."  Greenspan … (0 comments)

ozark missouri real estate: Residential Sales Trend - 10/20/06 03:13 PM
In a letter from a loan officer friend of mine, I was excited to learn that the current real estate housing market in Springfield, Missouri and surrounding counties for August 2006 is still pretty steady when compared to August 2005. The growth in the "average sales price" of houses has slowed. The number of houses sold in our area is still steady or slightly increasing, and the average sales price is still increasing, just not at the rates we have seen over the last 3 years. This is good news to us, as there are markets in the U.S. that have seen their … (2 comments)
