tennessee: A few apologies to the formerly little not so important people in my little black book - 11/29/07 11:25 AM

Recently, I began thinking about how slow things can be sometimes... I remember the good ole days when folks were lining up to buy houses even if they couldn't afford them. I ponder sipping lemonade on front porches of those with new keys to their very own homes on a more regular basis. I remember speeding across town with an offer to beat out six other contracts on the table for the perfect home for my buyers...... When my bluetooth was permanently implanted in my ear because of all the phone calls for showings and potential listings. If only things were … (0 comments)

He first and foremost a husband of one Jeannette Mills Corum and Father of three: Bryce Houston, Jake Austin and Seth Eli. Vernon is very comfortable just coaching sports and spending time with my kids. What he is paid to do is a little more confusing to describe because he holds three jobs.
First, a job at Pittsburgh Paints (www.ppg.com) as a paint sales specialist which is the job that pays the bills and keeps him from starving. Second, Vernon aspires to having his … (0 comments)

tennessee: Way to Go TODD HELTON of the Colorado Rockies (fountain city's own) - 10/11/07 03:04 PM

It is great to see a hometown boy make it in the bigs! Todd Helton and his team the Colorado Rockies are playing unbelievable baseball. We are very proud of him here in Fountain City, TN.  Other greats have come from our little town, including Tina Wesson the winner of Survival.
I hope that Todd and the Rockies go far in the playoffs. He is a nice guy and deserves to be where he is! He is a former high school football/baseball player locally at Central high school. He attended the University of Tennessee as a baseball/football player. He was instrumental … (0 comments)

tennessee: $3.00 gas, $5.00 milk and the buyer's/seller's right to operate in this market without paying a fee - 09/22/07 01:16 PM

Recently, I went to the store and bought a $5.00 dollar gallon of milk and then went out and filled up my SUV with $3.00 dollar per gallon gas all the while thinking that it was highway robbery. I thought for a moment, that I could milk my own cow or even ride a bicycle for alot less money.... I got to thinking about how the good ole days were when my wife and I were spending $30.00 per week for groceries and when we bought a house for 8.5% interest in the mid 1990's then 8 years later the house sold … (7 comments)

tennessee: Paint's healthy alternative- Low or no VOC's - 08/30/07 02:15 PM

There is a nasty little secret about many household products including paints. Most paints have volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects.
BUT, I have good news many paint companies offer a no voc or low voc product. In the paint business, we continue to move away from alkyd or oil based products because they are full of solvents and VOCs and basically are unhealthy. The alternative is to use latex products. Now, many companies have formulated low VOCs … (1 comments)
