Buying a home can be exhausting and exciting all at the same time. There are the usual tips that most savvy potential homebuyers are already aware of: Review your expenses and then get pre-approved, where do you want to live, home inspection, etc. Here are a few other tips that are not always given consideration but should be:
-If the house has been remodeled or rehabbed, and you have more than just a casual interest in the  property, ask to see the permits. Responsibility for fixing unpermitted work, should fall on the seller.
-Drive by property at different times of the day. I … (3 comments)

hinsdale real estate: Helping the Consumer - 05/13/10 04:33 AM
The bottom line as an agent is you are there to HELP. Whether you are giving them a realistic value of their much cherished home or helping them buy a home. Always keep at the forefront the clients best interests, not yours. Don't act like you are listening, REALLY listen. Watch for body language as well, then you will know what is most important to them. Every client is different. It is also an interview process, don't be afraid to ask questions for fear of not "hitting it off". Show your marketplace knowledge, marketing strategies and your business style. (Are you detail-minded, a … (8 comments)

hinsdale real estate: Positive Real Estate in 50 Words or Less - 05/11/10 07:56 AM
The difference between try and triumph is a little UMPH. ~Author Unknown                                          There are songs, books & even movies about "trying your best". If you try your best, can there be "failure"? Failure by definition is the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective. That is impossible when you TRY. Define your own success.

hinsdale real estate: Positive Real Estate in 50 Words or Less - 05/09/10 03:21 PM
Know your job! Don't be the realtor who thinks "that's not my responsibility". Be the "GO TO" for everything real estate and the first person that comes to mind for anyone with a real estate question.  It is your responsibility to know how your lender, home inspector, attorney and appraiser all operate. BE THE RESOURCE!

hinsdale real estate: Positive Real Estate in 50 Words or Less - 05/09/10 03:05 PM
Coping with the difficult client, a few rules I try to follow: Don't take people's behavior personally. LISTEN and then gently ask questions. Do not lose your cool or interrupt. STR: Stop, Think, Respond. Acknowledge their perspective. You can only change your responses to their behavior.  In the end, choose peace not conflict.

What's more important "IN" or "ON" the market? "IN" the market gets showings, shows well, aggressive marketing plan, priced right and sells. "ON" the market is seen on the internet, might show well, mediocre marketing, not priced right and activity fades quickly. You need to be "IN" it, to win it!
