Of course we know it's illegal. So why are so many drivers blowing past school bus stop signs? In the Washington DC area, they are calling it an epidemic. An investigation by the local NBC TV station discovered thousands of drivers illegally pass school buses everyday!
In Montgomery county Maryland, school officials are taking action. They've installed cameras on the school buses with plans to add video equipment early next year. The news report shows one chilling video of a child, barely avoiding a speeding car, moments after leaving a school bus.
First a disclaimer: Home Buyers always choose their lender. Your agent may recommend preferred lenders, people they like to work with, but ultimately your lender is your choice.
And you should shop around and compare rates and fees! You do not have to close with the lender that pre-approves your mortgage.
Point #1 We like working with our preferred lenders because they offer competitive rates and loans while taking excellent care of our clients. In turn, our lenders like working with us because we bring them business. This cooperative relationship creates a (4 comments)

First Day of Autumn 2014 Autumnal Equinox Last night, while most of us were sound asleep, autumn arrived! In the Northern hemisphere, eastern time 10:29 p.m. The Equinox is special for one particular reason. The Autumn Equinox is one of two days in the year where the neither the North or South Pole is angled toward the sun. The result is a day and night that is almost equal. Give or take a bit for scientific reasons.
For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, it's time to usher in the cooler temperatures and cozy holidays. This is my favorite (3 comments)
There is one simple thing to do everyday that will create positive change in your business and maybe your life. But first, an analogy-
Imagine you are in a conversation with your friend. She is pouring her heart out to you. You, being the awesome listener that you are, are doing all the right things to validate her concerns and ease her mind. You do this by asking pertinent questions and displaying caring body language.
Even if you can't answer her questions or solve her problems-you've shown her that you care.

Summers can be brutal in Washington DC. This past summer, on one particularly hot and humid day, I climbed many flights of stairs in my quest to find the perfect condo for my clients. We covered several neighborhoods and over 11 buildings. I was a sweaty mess by the end of the day but I did it! Thanks to the (2 comments)
Glenmont is one of the neighborhoods in Silver Spring Maryland- the last stop on Metro's Red line. Glenmont is a twenty minute subway ride to downtown Washington DC. There are single family homes within one mile of the Metro station and many home owners walk to the station to commute to work. To the east of Georgia Avenue, there are two story Ramblers, Split levels and Colonial style homes. Homes for sale, excluding distressed properties, range from the low $400's and up. To the west of Georgia Avenue, homes styles include (3 comments)

When we wanted to buy a new home you were already on my mind!" I keep pre wrapped Buyer's Edge mugs in my car-just in case I have (5 comments)

The Northeastern United States is the most traffic congested area in the country. New York, Baltimore and Washington DC are famous for bumper to bumper traffic on highways. But is it too soon to get excited about Superconducting Magnetic Levitation "MagLev" Trains? Maybe not. Especially since an investor group wants to build a high speed train that would get people from Washington DC to Baltimore in 15 minutes. According to a filing made to Maryland State regulators, they have $5 billion dollars in financial backing. But before you don your Star Trek uniform, let's look at the details. (1 comments)
My answer is no! The term "pocket listing" is overused by some listing agents and misunderstood by sellers and home buyers. David Cabot, President/CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Homes says, "I personally think it is bad business and I do not permit it in my company." He goes on to say Pocket Listings or Off Market listings create an underground market that doesn't help anyone but the listing agent. Cabot belives Pocket Listings started as a way to control (4 comments)
victoria ray henderson: Using Your "Senses" When Buying a Home

Using Your "Senses" When Buying a Home With over a foot of snow still on the ground, house hunting in the Greater Washington DC Area is a real challenge. In addition to pulling boots off and on at each home listing, the yards are covered in snow making it impossible to really see the front and back yards. However, this time of year provides us with an awesome opportunity. We should use our senses to discover your new home! Buying a Home Should Engage all of Your Senses We will begin with the NOSE. victoria ray henderson: Falling in Love With Your New Home

Falling in Love with Your New Home My job is so much fun especially when my clients fall in love with their new home. It is a dream come true-really. Most of my clients write lists and drive neighborhoods to fine tune their home search. I listen as they describe their perfect kitchen. I take notes on all the important things I hear like, "the backyard has to have a big patio where we can entertain in the spring and summer" or "we have to have big closets and space for all our family gear." And then it happens... We drive (0 comments)
