facebook: When Do Facebook Likes Become Bad? - 08/06/12 03:13 PM
Over the course of the last few months I have been reading articles about how the "social network" affects rankings throughout the search engines.  While google seems to be giving more weight to their own network, Google+, they are beginning to give weight to Facebook.  I believe over time they may start to give more weight.  I have a few pages of Facebook, a personal one and a couple of business ones.
Just recently I started to get spammed on my Kolea facebook page.  I have gotten Likes from dozens of people from foreign countries that post irrelevant posts that I … (4 comments)

facebook: Business Pages: Google+ vs. Facebook - 03/17/12 11:24 AM
I recently completed two of my business pages on Facebook and Google+ and compared them.  I wanted to get your feedback on what you thought about the two platforms.
Simplicity to Build- Google+While both of them were fairly straight forward to build, I found the Google+ page slightly easier to build.  The only downside I saw was that Google+ has a Video section and would not easily allow you to upload videos from YouTube, which I thought was a reasonable function giving the relationship of Google+ and YouTube.
Look and Functionality- Google+Google+ offers a cleaner look and also is easy to … (32 comments)

facebook: An End Coming for Facebook and Twitter for SEO? - 10/08/11 06:46 PM
As I watch what google is doing I can see an end coming to SEO value for Twitter and Facebook.  I know many people will disagree with this as it has been stated a number of times that the social web will play a big part in future SEO.  Here are my reasons why.
Right now Google still dominates searches on the web.  Facebook does lead in traffic, but does not have a search built to compete with Google.  Right now everyone focuses on their rankings for Google.  Given that, if Google were to give weight in their searches to companies … (10 comments)

facebook: Facebook Support- Does It Exist? - 09/20/11 07:32 AM
Just recently I had an issue come up with my Facebook business page that I could not find an answer to in the support forums.  I then tried to find a contact for Facebook on their site and realized they do not want you contacting them because I could not find it anywhere.
Has anyone else had the same problem?  Does anyone know their support email?
This was a little frightening because they are supposed to be the next biggest thing (if they are not already).  I saw Yahoo doe this years back and it lead to me not wanting to … (7 comments)

facebook: What Will Be Googles Key Ranking Factor? - 08/21/11 09:48 AM
For many years Googles main ranking factor were links.  Google recently announced that links were not going to have near the weight they used to.  That lead me to question, what will take its place?  Here are some theories:
FacebookFacebook is very well established and Google may give weight to how many people "like" your business or how much you are mentioned on the social web.  Do you have a business listing?  The only issue with Facebook is that Google does not have access to all the information.  It would be a good option if they had access to all the … (6 comments)

facebook: How To Use Facebook Ads for Real Estate - 04/11/11 11:43 AM
As Facebook continues to grow they are starting to put more inphasize on their ads.  I just recently received a coupon in the mail to try out Facebook ads and receive a $50 credit.  The catch (like always) is that you do have to enter your credit card info and when your credit expires your campaign continues unless you cancel.
A lot of the campaign set up was similar to setting up Google PPC.  You get to choose which locations you want your ad to show up in, how much you want to pay per click, etc.  The main difference was … (3 comments)

facebook: When Will Facebook Overtake Google? - 03/23/11 09:05 PM
When will Facebook overtake Google?  That is a question that I am sure a lot of people in the online marketing community are asking.  Given that Facebook has built a very strong social network and has recently patented their search, it should get interesting soon.
Google has been the leader for years and their most recent success came in the early 2000s when they incorporated links as a large part of their algorith.  The main thought behind links initially was that it was like another person or company recommending the site.  Facebook has already had that system in place now for … (3 comments)

facebook: Where is the Power in Facebook? - 09/07/10 10:24 AM
In 2010 I pledged to dive more into the socail media aspect of online marketing.  After spending some time with both Twitter and Facebook I decided that Facebook would be a good tool for me to focus my time on.
WIthin that time I have learned a lot of the ins and outs of Facebook.  Although it does seem to have a small effect on SEO, I have not seen a large effect.  It does offer the easiest way to interact with your customer base, but I do not think that it should take place of a web site.
Here is … (7 comments)

facebook: Is the Social Web Out of Control? - 04/18/10 10:43 AM
Over the course of the last few years I have tried out many of the aspects of the social web.  I have seen several statistics around the web as to how much business you can get from social media being in the real estate profession.  All of the figures were minimal.  If you dive into the social web it can encompass a lot of your time.  What I find hard to understand is why so many people put so much time into it.  It seems like there are many other things you could be doing that would be more valuable.
Many … (3 comments)

facebook: Discussion About Facebook - 03/09/10 01:12 PM
More than just being a post of information I wanted to open a discussion of how to use Facebook to benefit you and keep your existing clientele.  Here are some of my thoughts and questions.
1)  I think Facebook is better than twitter due to the amount of information you can publish and also after a while you can get "tweeted" out with all the tweets that people publish that you follow.  I love the feature of facebook that pulls information from your site when you publish something that relates to it.
2)  Once you have a facebook page (you can … (7 comments)

facebook: Are You Using Social Media? - 02/17/10 05:55 AM
As social media is becoming more and more of a trend I keep finding myself feeling like I need to partake in it.  In early 2009 I started a twitter account and just could not make sense of it.  Everything I wanted to say that was related to business could not be said in the few amount of words they allowed you to tweet.
Just recently I started a Facebook business page.  I was very happy with the functionality and simplicity of using it.  Then it came time to get fans and start promoting it.  Once I got to this step … (2 comments)
