While this graph outlines which social media sites are the most popular it does not necessarily mean as a real estate … (1 comments)

seo: Found Any Secrets To Get YouTube to Promote Your Videos? - 04/02/24 03:14 PM
We have been using YouTube as a platform to host many of the videos for our website for a few years.  While we have been able to get some views directly from YouTube, we do not get as many as we would like.
Interestingly enough, YouTube has promoted several of our videos and they have gotten substantial more views than other videos without there being a significant different in videos.
We use relevant hashtags on all of them and for the most part they are videos on scenic places on the Big Island of Hawaii so not necessarily is one video significantly more … (15 comments)

seo: Are You Using ChatGPT For Your Website? - 09/12/23 02:02 PM
When ChatGPT first came out I was hesitant to use it, but as more and more people began to use it I wanted to try it out.  Overall if I told it to give me a 500 word article on almost any of the properties we managed it came back about 90% correct.  For some of the properties it would get it confused with something else, but overall it was correct.  For example, we manage properties at a complex called Kolea, which is a Hawaiian word that is a bird and used in other developments so I had to be very … (1 comments)

seo: Are Microsites Coming Back? - 06/24/23 12:44 PM
Between 2005 and 2010 microsites were a must for search engine optimization.  A microsite is as it sounds, a smaller site specific to one of your keywords.  For example, I do vacation rentals on the Big Island of Hawaii.  I could have my main site to optimize for broader keywords and then have microsites for more specific keywords.  What this looked like for me was a site that covered an entire resort and then microsites that covered each community within that resort.  It worked great and I had top rankings in most of the keywords I was going for.
Then around 2015 … (2 comments)

seo: How Will Googles New Look Effect Your Click Through Rate? - 03/10/14 05:45 AM
After reading about it for several months, google finally launched its new look.  This new look will more than likely have greater effects than most expect.
In previous years, google has shaded the AdWords space.  That shade has now gone and there is just a small line between the organic and paid search.  My belief is that with this change their AdWords use will go up significantly until more people become aware of the change and understand how organic search is found.
The underlines of the title tags are gone, but I would not think that would effect you much and … (1 comments)

seo: How Much Lip Service Does Google Give? - 03/09/14 09:42 AM
Over the course of the past years Google has had several updates and they always have an annoucement related to them about the spam that will be cut down on, etc.  I have yet to see a significant change in anything when an update comes out.
Recently I updated my description for my page www.waikoloavacationrentals.com/kolea-rentals with a good, clean description.  Good has decided to use a section of my page that is "stuffed" with keywords as my description rather than the good one I gave them.  Has anyone else seen anything similar to this?  Just doesn't make sense given that "stuffing" … (0 comments)

seo: Google's Penguin: What Did it Mean to You? - 01/13/14 01:45 PM
Recently I decided to research about the Google Penguin Updates.  I seemed to find all the articles and videos really interesting.
All of them started out by saying that if you build a usable site with good info and drive traffic there that you will be fine in the searches.  That made up about 10% of the videos and articles.
Then it went on to how Google is still trying to find spammy links.  There are several different types of spammy linking trends they are trying to bust and it sounded like they are putting a lot of effort into … (2 comments)

seo: Google Shows Off During Hawaii Tsunami Warning - 03/12/11 07:09 PM
Hawaii experienced its second tsunami warning in about a year. It was interesting to see how google reported the information this year as opposed to last year.
Last year when the tsunami warning came about I searched terms such as hawaii tsunami warning to see what was going on.  The first result was a local news station that did report information, but was not as fresh of information as they were reporting on television.  That was the only real useful information provided from the google search so I just watched the news.
This year I did the same search, which provided … (4 comments)

seo: Blackhat SEO Video Technique - 02/12/11 07:19 PM
I just recently wrote an ActiveRain blog about a recent video I had made.  After I had the video made I tried to implement it into my site and had to do several searches to find the code I was looking for to do what I wanted to do.
While I was searching I found an article about "Blackhat Video Techniques".  They claimed that many people try to embed videos on pages and have it automatically start to drive up the views on YouTube and that this was Blackhat.  I was looking to do this, but more for the reason of … (7 comments)

seo: Does Article Submission Work for SEO? - 02/02/11 06:50 PM
Over the years I have tried submitting articles through various portals in hopes that it would help my SEO.  From what I have seen it has not helped it that much, but it has helped my branding.
I feel like the good articles I publish get picked up by numerous great sources such as google news, but I think google then turns around and counts most of it as duplicate content since you have the same article on a few dozen sites.  Have you seen anything similar to this?
Just recently I published an article on WiredPrNews and got great results … (2 comments)

seo: Hows Your Blog Doing? - 12/26/10 08:01 AM
Just recently I noticed that google seems to be giving a lot of weight to blogs than they used to.  Specifically you may notice that you are ranking a lot higher for your tags than you ever did before.  Prior to this month I could never find my tags in the searches.
This month I find many of them on page 2 of the searches.  Are you seeing the same?  If so, are they pages you can convert from?
Not many of us really think about the way we tag our blogs and I have that issue myself.  I find myself … (9 comments)

seo: Is SEO Dying? - 09/23/10 12:06 PM
With the latest changes Google has made over the course of the last year I have read numerous articles and debates related to where SEO will be 5 years from now or if it will even be in existence.
**I want to start by saying the comments I am going to say are solely related to Search Engine Optimization and not web design, content developement, etc.**
I feel that five years from now SEO will still be around, but will not be as big of a part of the internet as it is now.  I think Google is starting to show … (10 comments)

seo: Google Page Rank Is Good For Something - 05/11/10 12:16 PM
Last week I wrote a post on Three Tips to a Great SEO Campaign.  I did not get much feedback, but hopefully some of you found it useful.  This week I wanted to touch on googles page rank. For pretty much the past year it has become more known that googles page rank is really useless when it comes to their ranking.  There are many times that you can find searches that have sites with 0 or 1 PR ranking higher than sites with 3-4 PR with similar content.  Given that, do not question how your site ranks taking into consideration PR.

seo: Three Tips To A Great SEO Campaign - 04/30/10 08:53 PM
Having a very successful SEO campaign can require a lot of time and energy, but in the end it really boils down to three main things; getting invloved in the community, getting your information out there via article submission and page building, and having a good site.  Here is some more insight to each of these items.
Getting Involved In the CommunityThis is one of the simplest and least costly ways to gain links to your site.  You can get involved with other blogs and comment on them to gain links.  Also many people let you "guest post" on their blog … (4 comments)

seo: Need Help Making a Good Video - 04/03/10 02:16 PM
Having great photos has played a large role in us being successful at renting vacation rentals.  I wanted to try to do some videos of the properties to give people interested a better ideas of them.  Here are some questions I had.
1)  I have some great photos that have been enchanced, etc to make them really nice.  I am afraid that the videos will actually make the places not look as nice in comparison to the photos.  You can view an example of Mauna Lani Terrace A204. Any thoughts?
2)  I have a really nice video camera and you can … (3 comments)

seo: Hawaii Tourism is Down/My Sites Traffic Is Up - 02/16/10 07:53 AM
I have only been a member of ActiveRain for a couple of years, but I am already finding it hard to find a descent topic to write about.  I thought I would just pass along a small success story to give everyone out there some positive outlook.
I started really working on my web site, www.waikoloavacationrentals.com, just about a year ago.  At that point Hawaii had started to feel the crunch of the economy.  I continued to put a lot of time into the SEO and MORE IMPORTANTLY the items that effect the conversion rate of my web site.  Since then … (1 comments)

seo: Anyone Want to Network in Colorado? - 12/02/09 07:20 AM
I am headed out to Aspen next week for a semi-vacation before it gets super busy out here.
I have been running a vacation rental company out here in Hawaii for eight years and within the last few years have really gotten into the web site building/online marketing aspect of it.  You can check out what I have done at Waikoloa Vacation Rentals.
I have networked with a lot of local businesses to help promote my web site to consumers as well as the all mighty google.  I am looking to find a couple of companies throughout the US to network … (0 comments)

seo: Google vs. Yahoo - 01/27/09 07:37 AM
When I first started my sites I was number 1 on yahoo and not even on the first page on google.  Since optimizing my site, I have moved to around number 2 on google and down on yahoo.  I know google is the main thing, but there is some traffic to get from yahoo.  Any input would be great.
