There is no shell of a brownstone here on James Street. Unlike Harlem in New York, there are no abandoned or boarded up brownstones in this community. Neither will you find brownstones priced in the millions like those south of Harlem and yet, some of the most breathtaking architectural gems can be found just 26 minutes outside of midtown Manhattan. James Street is the center of James Street Commons, a community found listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
