politics: Headline - COMPANIES ARE NOT IN BUSINESS TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A JOB!! - 10/19/11 11:18 AM
I happened to be listening to Rush today as Mark Stein filled in and a guy called in and started talking about how intelligent President Obama is and that the companies out there are against him and are purposely not hiring as a way to get rid of President Obama. I could get into reasons why they're not hiring but his basic premise beyond getting President Obama out of the way is that they're greedy. Guess what? They are! Get over it!! That's what they're supposed to be doing. It's called Free Enterprise. We have so warped the minds of people in this country … (14 comments)

politics: Tax Breaks for Big Oil - 05/17/11 09:20 AM
I got the following in an email from Senator Claire McCaskill today. Following that is my response to her email.

Dear Walter,
There is more hot air around the United States Capitol about deficit reduction than about any other topic right now.
If we cannot end subsidies to the five most profitable corporations in the history of our planet, then I don’t know how Congress will make the truly difficult decisions about how to reduce the deficit.
Every year, billions of our tax dollars are given away to companies that made $36 billion in profits during this year's first … (2 comments)

politics: How to Get Oil and Gasoline Prices Down Now - Part 2 - 03/15/11 10:04 AM
This won't drive prices down quite as fast but here are some more information on how we could easily and drastically cut our dependence on oil, foreign and domestic.
I lived in New Zealand from 1997 - 1999 and one of the things that always fascinated me is that at every gas station I went to in those 2 years the station had gasoline, diesel, LPG and CNG for sale. Tell me please why we're not in overdrive in this country building or converting cars and trucks that can run on LPG or CNG. The conversion costs a couple thousand $$ … (7 comments)

politics: Quote of the Day - 03/14/11 02:13 PM
I was driving up I-29 today on business and heard a great quote that I thought I'd take a moment to share.
"FIREDRILL"
Fire Obama and Drill!
Have a great day!

politics: Make Mine Freedom - 07/16/10 12:44 AM
Saw this on Facebook this morning. The video is part of series apparently put out by Harding University at the start of the Cold War warning about the dangers of "isms". Too bad we've swung so far the other way. Way too many have drunk from the bottle and seem to like the taste. See for yourself. … (24 comments)

politics: My America Why I Love Her - 07/02/10 11:30 AM
I needed to find something patriotic to do in concerts for the Southern Gospel Group I'm with. I got to hunting around and found something that John Wayne recorded back in the seventies. It does a pretty good job of summing it up.  I don't know who the actual author as I don't think it was Wayne. I use America the Beautiful as the backdrop to this. Its a good message for the Independence celebration this July 4th weekend.

You ask me Why I Love Her? Well, give me time and I'll explain.
Have you seen a Kansas sunset … (6 comments)

politics: GOP Appears Divided - 06/21/10 02:21 AM
I read with interest this morning a story from the Associated Press about how the Republicans can't seem to come up with a winning message for the fall. Via radio and tv Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Walter Williams and others have all given you the right message but if you won't listen to them and the millions that listen and watch those programs maybe, if you'll take a moment to look at history, I can help you.
You've had 3 presidential elections now where you either barely won or lost. This is not because you were too conservative as … (23 comments)

politics: A Favorite Quote for the Day - 06/12/10 07:05 PM
I've been using this quote as part of my email signature for some time. Before I start using another I wanted to post it here.
“You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half … (11 comments)

politics: I've done it! I've solved the Healthcare Crisis - 04/02/10 06:15 AM
I had an epiphany of sorts this morning (sorry it was too late for the vote on the health care bill). Since we're bound and determined to see how many babies we can kill with the implementation of ROE v. Wade in 1973 and since we're bound and determined to see how many of the elderly we can kill off with the rationed health care that's on its way, let's just short circuit the whole thing today and declare that abortion is legal until about age 10 (they could probably survive on their own at this point but haven't hit puberty … (5 comments)

politics: Government Gone Awry - 03/20/10 04:07 PM
I watched with disbelief this evening as I actually heard a Democrat Representative blast those of us that think we should have the freedom to choose how we live our lives. He then had the audacity to envoke the Bible and a passage from James as to why it is up to the government to save us all from ourselves and how dare the rest of us be so uncompassionate.
The United States as we have known it dies as does our status as the leader of the free world with the Obama administration. History will say we used to be … (5 comments)

politics: Where's the Outcry? - 12/30/09 03:41 AM
I'll admit to not having seen a lot of news yet today other than a couple of hours this morning, but; where is the outcry asking or actually accusing Obama of letting this terrorist onto the plane bound for Detroit so that they could justify whatever they want to do next. Conspiracy theories have abounded since 9/11 accusing Bush of knowing what was going to happen and letting it happen so that he could justify his pre-emptive strategy in the war against terror. None of it has ever been proven that I'm aware of though.
Yet here we now know that … (22 comments)

politics: The Walter Hayes Political Platform - 07/24/09 02:36 PM
There are many things about this country that are great but there are also many things that are seriously wrong in this country and what follows is what I believe is needed to address those problems. They are listed in no particular order other than how they happen to come to mind. If there is a candidate that is brave enough to adopt what I have here they can count me in on their team.1.    Foreign Aid - The United States is one of the most giving nations on earth, both from the government and the public at large. It is … (10 comments)

politics: When Were They Lying? - 03/16/09 04:48 AM
Yesterday I saw a crawl go by saying that an Obama Administration official at some level had been quoted as saying that the fundamentals of the economy are strong. Is this not the same group that laughed at John McCain and told the world that he was out of touch and basically didn't have a clue when it came to economics. So what's different? When John McCain made the statement we had 95.5% employment in the USA. Interest rates were at 6% and while the economy had definitely slowed down no one was in a panic and you could get a decent loan … (1 comments)

politics: Get out the Duct Tape! - 09/18/08 11:27 AM
I saw this on a crawl during the 6pm news and had to check it out because I just couldn't believe it. Joe Biden actually said that paying higher taxes would be patriotic for wealthier Americans.
He went on to say:
"We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people," Biden said. Of those who would pay more, he said: "It's time to be patriotic ... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut." As reported by AP
I read this in the Huffington … (2 comments)

politics: When will the Republican Part finally grow a Backbone? - 09/18/08 04:27 AM
I did my little rant on global warming earlier now I'll tackle my next pet pieve. When, if ever, will the Republican party grow a backbone? I'm sick and tired of the Republicans out there just taking crap. I'm all for taking the high road but how about we actually fight every now and then. Here's just a few that rub me raw:
1 - There were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq - Nonsense! It was very well known and every Republican and Democrat on the Hill knew darned well that they were there. The fact that we gave … (39 comments)
