san diego real estate: What Gets a Real Estate Professional Really Excited? - 06/11/14 03:56 AM
What Gets a Real Estate Professional Really Excited ?
Having a real passion for real estate is not so unusual, there are many really fine real estate professionals in our industry and many are right here in our ActiveRain network. Every time we get a referral, we feel a sense of fulfillment. When we get thank letters from our clients, it gives a true sense of accomplishment. The busier we are the more likely we are to be walking around with lots of warm fuzzies.
Then there is the ultimate compliment. The one that comes totally unexpected. I received just such a … (8 comments)

san diego real estate: La Jolla Coastal Resident Taking Time to Smell The Flowers - 04/19/13 02:48 PM
La Jolla Coastal Resident Taking Time to Smell The Flowers

Last evening, the sunset was outrageous. Regretfully I was leaving a listing as I saw it and it was too late to get there. So I had time late today and thought I might get a repeat show.
It was apparent when I got there that there was no clouds but just overcast haze, no sunset was going to be showing much today. While I was waiting to see if there was going anything work taking photos of, I was entertained twice. Right below where I was standing in my sheltered … (35 comments)

san diego real estate: Electronic Signatures Make Signing Real Estate Documents a No Brainer - 02/28/13 10:33 AM
One of my Sellers suggested that I should write about the benefits of electronic signatures and to advise the  Sellers and Buyers out there to understand how easy and unstressed electronic signatures can be and that Buyers and Sellers should also know that their agent is technology literate before signing up with them.
My Seller was telling me today that they were glad I was their agent because I make their efforts so easy in a getting their property under contract.
The ease of using DocuSign to complete the signing and completion of documents is very easy and anyone  can sign and … (26 comments)

san diego real estate: Taking Care of Bees-ness in San Diego - 05/11/12 07:23 AM
Taking Care of Bees-ness in San Diego
The San Diego real estate market has been all a-buzz and heating up for several months and Sellers of San Diego Homes and Condominiums would be wise to consider bringing their homes on market if they want to take advantage of the built-up Buyer demand.
With interests rates likely to go up, San Diego Home Buyers have been incentivised to buy now while the interest rates remain low. So why aren't more Buyers Buying? Because inventory is at an all time low. If you need to sell, don't miss this great opportunity available to you to … (17 comments)

san diego real estate: Journey to Our Future - 02/07/12 11:12 AM
This is a banner hanging up at the entrance to our San Diego Air and Space Museum. It speaks to a journey of our future. In real estate we are also on a journey to our own future and it has nearly as many twists and turns and potential obstacles and detours as one might expect to find in space travel.

I make this analogy because much of what we have known of real estate as it's core principles, while still very much in tact, we continue to face a barrage of new procedures, legal impediments and most assuredly financing … (21 comments)

If you Were 156 Years Old Today, You Would be Beaming Too!

The San Diego Lighthouse, A San Diego Treasure

The building turned 156 years old today and to celebrate the milestone, the San Diego Lighthouse at the Cabrillo National Monument Park has now opened the lighthouse for guided tours. The docents of the park that are leading the tours will be found in period costumes of the time. They will guide you up the very steep circular staircase where you will see first hand the work and living quarters of the lighthouse keeper whose average work week was … (21 comments)

san diego real estate: San Diego October Real Estate Market Conditions - 11/16/11 08:11 AM
San Diego October Real Estate Market Conditions

The October residential real estate market conditions like the past several months are a mixed bag.
Of the 5 major market areas in San Diego county, the biggest change noted for the San Diego real estate market was in North County Inland. Home values dropped on average almost 14%. Sales in North County Inland remained mostly flat for the month.
The most significant improvement county wide was in East County and South County. These were the areas hardest hit with foreclosures and distressed sales. Sales rose 14% and 17 % respectively.
The median … (10 comments)

Heritage Village Makeover Now Complete
Back in November of 2010, I wrote a post about the transformation and makeover of Heritage Village that was underway. Almost a full year later, I thought it would be would nice to show you what that makeover looks like with a few of the before and after Photos.
Heritage Park's nineteenth century Victorian Homes were transformed from a Park to an enclave of hotel guest rooms as part of a multi-million dollar restoration.
Heritage Park was created  to preserve a number of century old structures  that were threatened by demolition when the post WWII expansion … (13 comments)

san diego real estate: Which Witch is Which? - 10/26/11 12:31 PM
It's soon to be All Hallows Eve and while driving to my Open House this past weekend,  I came upon this Witch. I couldn't tell for sure if she was a good Witch or a bad Witch because as witches go, I can't tell them apart. She was dressed sort of nice. So perhaps you know, which Witch is which? Is this a Good Witch or a Bad Witch? Which ever Witch she is, Come All Hallows Eve, I hope she hasn't cast a spell to turn me into an ugly worm, hehehehehe.

san diego real estate: Real Estate Market Conditions Are Cloudy With Patches of Clearing ! - 07/27/11 12:47 PM
Real Estate Market Conditions Are Cloudy With Patches of Clearing !

Consumers ask " How's the real estate market"? and we run to our crystal balls only to find them mostly cloudy with slight patches of clearing. Sounds more like a weather report doesn't it?  But it does show one thing in common with the weather. It's guaranteed to change but not necessarily be better than the day before.
The Case Schiller Index report came out a couple days ago for May. The index tracks 20 metropolitan areas  around the country and the current report looks a lot like previous … (24 comments)

san diego real estate: Lazy Days of Summer - 07/18/11 08:04 AM
Lazy Days of Summer

Yesterday afternoon, I stopped over to our Safari Park to photographically capture more of it's many opportunities to see and experience the wild animals in the place they call home. With many photos of the animals already taken, catching this lion resting out in the lawn area of his camp, reminded me of our own Lazy Days of Summer when all we want to do is relax and to get away from the daily grind.
I was speaking with Kerrie Greenhalgh of ActiveRain this morning about her wonderful photo journey abroad last month and how important … (52 comments)

San Diego Summer Pops Schedule for July 2011
The Summer of 2011 will be a banner year for entertainment  here in San Diego.
The line up of Entertainers  this year will provide quite a mix that should provide something for everyone's taste. Performed at a specifically constructed Stage at one of my most favorite locations, the Embarcadero Marina South directly behind the San Diego Convention Center. I have marked the approximate location where the Stage will be set up as well as the location for the fireworks for the 4th of July Celebration.

The Schedule for "Entertainment on the Waterfront" … (26 comments)

The Voice of San Diego Real Estate Suggests That the Purpose of Home Remodeling has Changed
Over the decades past we have seen neighborhood revitalization take place first starting with a homeowner remodeling the home to increase the value. Today, we are seeing more and more remodeling being done out of necessity with less emphasis for increased value and more to fulfill the family's needs.
And interestingly, many of the improvements and additions are not adding to the value like times past.  And depending on neighborhood and the very localized market, many of the additions are making little difference in the … (7 comments)

san diego real estate: The Inspiration of a Seedling - 05/28/11 05:15 PM
The Inspiration of a Seedling

I took this inspirational photo from a ski lift in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and it so impressed me that this little tree survives in the most difficult of environments and seems to be a testament to will power.
In many of our lives,  we very often encounter circumstances that are so untenable that we just have no ability to rationalize a solution. But a steadfast belief that you can overcome most any obstacle can very often lead to some remarkable results.
The pine seedling that fell into the crack in these rocks obviously found … (36 comments)
