real estate news: Numbed to the News! - 07/01/09 01:42 PM
Today's Headlines..."Mortgage Applications are Off By 19%" places fear in the hearts of many.  I confess, it is beyound scary even if the news shrugs it off and the stock markets climb higher. That is not where I want to place my money.  I think it is safe  in real estate...at least at the end of the day at least I own something.
The question is are you really surprised at any of today's news, even if in your hearts you already know the answers to the stories may be hald truths or just totally wrong.  Each day bad news is released and we are inundated with … (18 comments)

real estate news: Atlanta Homes and Real Estate Trends for September 2008 - Atlanta Single Family Detached Homes Sold. - 10/22/08 02:24 PM
Atlanta Homes and Real Estate Trends for September 2008 - Atlanta Single Family Detached Homes Sold.  The Atlanta First Multiple Listing Service just published the most recent statistics for Atlanta real estate today Wednesday October 22, 2008.  It really tells us nothing we did not know, but there are some trends that must be paid attention to if you are buying a home in Atlanta or selling a home.  Atlanta homes sales are 33% off the market peaks we saw in September 2005.  Though Atlanta homes sales rose 10.8% from September last year it is important to acknowledge that many of … (0 comments)

real estate news: Do You Believe Homes Sales Increased? Good News or Bad News? - 08/25/08 03:24 PM
Good news or bad News?  I guess I am almost numb to believing any more housing news or stats anymore.  Positive stats are retracted and adjusted in a month or so and end up being revised with numbers on the other end of the scale.  One side of the stats tell us sales are up, but prices are dropping.  Where is the good news?   The word "Spin" comes to mind, but a math tally does not carry the same weight with me any longer. The newspapers, media and NAR seem to be more interested in playing the numbers for their own advantage.  … (26 comments)

real estate news: Does Anyone in Real Estate Actually Read the Real Estate Business News? - 06/05/08 06:08 PM
In real estate circles this last week we have been digesting the latest sales numbers from the National Association of Realtors NAR.  They always compare this years numbers to last years numbers and then project where they think sales will end up.  The bigger stories are not news worth when these numbers are actually revised and adjusted on another date, and usually posted in obscurity on page 27B of the news paper.
There are bigger numbers more readily available while no one in the industry even want to acknowledge them or discuss the impact they will have on the nation and our … (31 comments)

real estate news: Real Estate News Stories - Tell Me Something I Don't Know! - 04/29/08 02:38 AM
Real Estate News Stories.  Every day real estate news stories on the evening news, Internet, newspapers.... bombard us with headlines such as..."Vacant Homes Increase" "Foreclosures Rise" "Home Sales Slump...etc."  The headlines that hit the wires are the stories that real estate agents have known for months!  9 out of 10 homes we show are vacant in some price ranges.  So no DUH!"  Too bad the media does not report that many homes are over priced by inexperienced agents and greedy sellers.  Many homes are just way overpriced and will never sell.  In fact they do not even belong on the market.  Other … (11 comments)

real estate news: Reality TV - Real Estate Flipping - Did it Flip Us Off with Lies? - 05/30/07 03:10 PM
Reality TV is all the rage on TV for the last year or so in the real estate frenzy we've all just lived through. No questions asked! The shows seemed to be geared toward the ask no question crowds of crazed would be investors and do-it-your-selfers obsessed with easy profits..  For those of us that are seasoned in real estate it was just hard to swallow a lot of the TV and media hype.  After all, true acquisition costs, adn real expenses such as commissions and tax consequences were never part of any of the shows.  But did anyone ever assume that fraud could be part … (34 comments)

real estate news: Housing News How Does it Effect You? - 04/10/07 08:02 AM
I just picked up the New York Times today, where I read a few articles about sub-prime lending, and came to the conclusion it was not painting a pretty picture.  Then I read about DR Horton's sales, and how they are falling far short of their goals.  If you run a Google news search on Home Sales there are a variety of articles that spell out what is taking place in various markets.  Just as the press and the media painted a picture of boom times in real estate for the last several years, they are there now covering another side of … (15 comments)
