lancaster living experience: Bridges of Lancaster County - Pinetown Bushong's Mill Covered Bridge - 08/21/11 01:56 PM
Another one of the 29 Covered Bridges of Lancaster County is found in Pinetown Bushong's Mill Covered Bridge. This bridge is very similar to many of the covered bridges in Lancaster, PA. Construction is the familiar Burr arch trusses design.

Most of the bridges are painted red and the Pinetown Bridge is no exception. It was built in 1867 by Elias McMellan at a cost of $4500. Like many of the bridges it was destroyed in 1972 by the effects of Hurrican Agnes. It was rebuilt by the local Amish and raised to 17.5 feet above the average water line.
