lanikai: Lanikai Beach House - Sold $2,150,000 - 03/19/18 11:08 PM

Kailua Real Estate is still hot, even in Lanikai where homes tend to sit on the market a little longer than average. Despite the hefty price tag, great Kailua Beach homes like this one are hard to find.
This home was a dream, just a few houses from Lanikai Beach, remodeled with 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, which includes a detached guest cottage. Multi-family possiblities were apparent in this home, and it sat on a huge lot, as well. It featured an upgraded kitchen with Subzero and Viking appliances. The flooring of this Lanikai home was durable and easy care with a driftwood-colored … (10 comments)

lanikai: Kailua Neighborhood Series: Lanikai - 09/16/07 08:35 PM
Data Current September 2007
Lanikai means "heavenly seas" and is one of the most desired, prestigious, and expensive areas of Kailua. Home or vacation spot to many local and national celebrities, such as the beloved late Don Ho, you will find multi-million dollar mansions and modern architechtural masterpieces mingled with plantation style homes and shabby beach cottages.  As one of the first and oldest areas of Kailua, there are more very old (incl. 20's & 30's) homes left in this area of Kailua than any other, some beautifully restored. The beach, with it's soft white sand is world renowned and many homes are either … (0 comments)

lanikai: Kailua Neighborhood Series: Kawailoa - 09/16/07 07:56 PM
Data Current September 2007
This is the beachfront neighborhood in and bordering Kailua Beach Park, ending Northwest at Kailua Rd. by the Kalapawai Market (Est. 1932). Properties consist of single-family, as well as a few condos and rentals. There are a few older homes, but date of construction varies quite a bit. The streets in this neighborhood include Kaneapu Pl., Makalii Pl., Kawailoa Rd., the 300 block of S. Kalaheo Dr., Popoia and Alala Rd. It is a small area and properties rarely come on the market in this area, unless they are newly constructed/renovated. For example, in 2004, 521 Kawailoa (an almost 1/2 … (0 comments)

lanikai: About Kailua - 09/10/07 07:42 PM
Kailua No Ka'oi! If you want to live in a place with a small-town feel, with famed white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, there is Kailua and its many quiet family neighborhoods. Kailua is on the Windward side of Oahu, less than 1/2 hour drive from Honolulu and connected to the Honolulu area by three highways (Pali/H-3/Kalanianaole). Many have said that as they leave Honolulu and head toward Kailua, they immediately feel a sense of peacefulness and relaxation. Perhaps, it is the lush, green scenery or the views of Kailua and Kaneohe Bays coming out through the tunnel, but it also could be knowing the friendly and laid-back people … (0 comments)

lanikai: Kailua Neighborhood Series: Country Club Knoll - 09/08/07 08:14 PM
Data Current Sept 2007
This family neighborhood includes the hills and other areas just South of Kailua Beach Park, if you turn right at the end of Kailua Beach Park (instead of turning left, up Alala, to go to Lanikai). Homes are relatively close to Kailua Beach and many have great ocean and/or mountain, or golf course views or frontage on the Mid-Pacific Country Club in Lanikai. Most homes there were originally built in the 70s. Homes are mostly in the $1M to $1.3M price range and between 1700-2600 sq ft. Lots are from about 7,500-11,000 sq ft in size.

lanikai: BUYING AN OLDER HOME IN EAST OAHU - 08/29/07 11:36 AM
Mainland home buyers are often a bit surprised at the quality and condition of real estate when they come to Hawaii to look for a house. This is particularly true when you are looking at older homes, in the more popular areas of East Oahu (Metropolitan Honolulu, Diamondhead, & Kailua and the older areas in Hawaii Kai), under about $1M or even up to $2M, if within a block or so of the beach or with excellent views.Older homes, when beautifully remodeled, are very desirable and people will pay a premium for them. I love old homes, having lived in San Francisco and Portland, … (3 comments)
