On October 15, 2009 The Archdiocese of Washington informed the little school that without $575,000 by January they would not be open the next school Year! With increased fundraising and AMAZING support from a little rural neighborhood, this local staple to the community has raised over $600,000! The families of this School and the Community have pitched in and became proactive in fundraising into next year and years to come with their "thanks-a-million" campaign. This is probbaly one of the most unbelievable Schools, and community that … (1 comments)

Ok so, I had such a busy day scheduled for today. I had a contractor scheduled for service at 7:30 at a house that is about an hour away from home. Well at about 6:45 I'm am halfway to my destination and I get a call that they won't be there until around noon?? I kept my composure and said OK. Now. I have a meeting this morning at 9:30 and another one about an hour away at 1:30 and 2:30. So all I can say is this guy better be fast. Just thought I would say that if you make … (8 comments)

st marys: Rain Rain Go Away! - 11/13/09 11:52 PM
OK so today is finally supposed to be the last day of heavy rain and winds here since wednesday and the remnants of Hurricane Ida! This rain has really "dampened" (no punn intended) my week. I had a planned closing on a home I built scheduled for yesterday. The sod on the lawn was scheduled to be installed on last wednesday (rain or shine) well it rained and rained and rained! The weather was so bad we couldnt get the sod down. Well after begging some very angry customers to wait it out. They have agreed to extend it until This … (6 comments)

st marys: Buying a Home is a "safe Bet" - 10/11/09 12:20 AM
I was doing a little research this morning and was so pleasantly surprised to see a bit a good news recently with the recent Home Sales reports. It seems that for the moment there is a bit of positive news in the market with resales starting to curve upward and new home construction up, and sales prices nudging up. I started wondering if buying a new home is still considered a good investment? A lot of people recently have told me and I continue to put it out there, that it truly is a good time to buy. So why? It … (5 comments)

st marys: Patuxent Playhouse at St. Michael's School in Ridge - 08/23/09 11:50 PM
Hello all, I thought I would tell you about the great family event we had yesterday. We went to my kids school and saw the Patuxent Playhouse perform "School House Rock Live" . It was a lot of fun to hear the old songs that used to inspire me on Saturday mornings. The cast and crew really made this event a lot of fun for everyone there. They even had a small childrens area for kids to get a "front row seat" Hearing all the old songs on the Saturday morning cartoons, was really a lot of fun. I think they … (0 comments)

st marys: License Taining Part 4 - 08/18/09 12:38 AM
Well yesterday was the last day of my licensing training class. Tomorrow is my last class and my class test. I really hope that I have some time to study. The class really is filled with lots of interesting people. It is nice to see people that truly have their hearts and minds in the right place planning on becoming agents. Hearing some of the stories is a bit scary, but encouraging all at the same time. Taking this class was truly worth the effort. It has made me even more excited about getting my license and helping the public get … (2 comments)

st marys: License Training Part 3 - 08/13/09 10:20 AM
Well today was my day off from the "crash course" and I took the time to "interview" a local Broker to find out what some of my options were for hanging my license. It was actually very informative. One local broker is a national brokerage, and the rumer around town was that they were very expensive. The truth is that after looking over the numbers it was funny that you actually end up with more money in your pocket with them then some of the other firms. This is truly a learning experience! I do have to admit that having a … (1 comments)

st marys: Getting My License Continued - 08/06/09 10:28 AM
Well it has definitely been a learning experience in the Maryland Real Estate Practice class. With about 20+ years of homebuilding experience, there are still so many terms that I had no idea about! The good news is that at least I have a pretty good understanding of how different jurisdictions operate. It is nice to have an instructor that teaches in normal terms and doesn't expect you to know the information already. I have actually reached a point where I am excited about getting my license. I am already working on my business plan and coordinating a "Here I am … (0 comments)

st marys: To Be or Not To Be... - 07/31/09 11:55 PM
Well I thought this would be the perfect time for me to post about my upcoming plans... I am scheduled monday to start taking my Real Estate Liscensing Class.. After years of contemplation and second guessing, I have finally taken the plundge. I'm not really sure what my expectations  are, except that I feel I have been in the Home Building business for 20 years now and the idea of having my License has become a bit of a necessity in todays market? I have to admit I'm a bit nervous, but I am also pretty confident that if some of … (5 comments)
