foreclosure: Partial Foreclosure Freeze and Dropping Rates - 10/06/08 05:19 AM
Under the $8.7-billion loan workout program that Bank of America will announce today for Countrywide borrowers, interest rates will be slashed as low as 3.5% for some borrowers, and foreclosures will be frozen for thousands of borrowers who might qualify. An estimated 125,000 Californians who are struggling with risky mortgages from Countrywide Financial Corp. may get their loans modified and payments reduced under a program to be announced today.
Bank of America said Countrywide mortgage-servicing employees would be trained to carry out the program by Dec. 1 and would then begin reaching out to eligible customers. The plan includes a foreclosure … (0 comments)

foreclosure: Looking Forward to Foreclosures - 09/14/08 09:42 AM
Fountain Valley could be the first in the county to begin a program to buy bank-owned homes and sell them as affordable housing. The Fountain Valley Community Development Agency recently gave unanimous approval for a policy that would allow the city to negotiate with lenders to purchase lender-owned homes and sell them as affordable housing.
In July, President Bush signed legislation to allow local cities to start similar programs funded by a portion of $4 billion in federal funds. The move by the city is geared toward reducing the number of vacant properties caused by the recent spate of foreclosures and … (1 comments)

foreclosure: OC's Toll Roads Report Decrease in Traffic - 05/15/08 08:24 AM
In today's OC economy, even the toll roads are facing a downturn in business. With the slow economy and rising gas prices the traffic on the toll roads has been decreasing. The San Joaquin Toll way has taken a 2% loss from last year. This is their second year in a row reporting losses. The 91 Express Lanes shows a 6% loss and the Foothill/Eastern Toll way is down 3%.
My feeling is that if they didn't continue to raise the toll price people might be able to see the bonus of actually taking the toll roads.

foreclosure: OC – Dead Last in the Jobs Game - 04/17/08 08:08 AM
Oh how OC has fallen from the mighty we once were. We are dead last in the jobs game. Orange County had the largest decline, 19,100 in positions last year. That was the biggest decline of the 328 largest counties in the U.S, tracked by Bureau of labor Statistics.
This is a shocking reality for a county that not to long ago -second quarter of 2004- that topped the same list as the national champ for job creation.  In 2004 homes were appredciating 30%, Ameriquest had the cash and marketing to slap their name on a major league baseball park in Texas, … (0 comments)

foreclosure: Can the Feds come up with a simpler mortgage process? - 04/01/08 11:30 AM
Since mortgages can be confusing and frustrating the Federal Housing department is proposing to change the process from opening to closing. It will be designed to Make it easier to compare mortgage offers, lenders will need to estimate closing costs and that barrowers know the terms of their loan.
Here are some of the biggest changes:
