pa: I love Erie, PA! - 04/28/11 01:47 AM
Thank you to Natalie Washburn and the Erie Board of Realtors for sponsoring a Polley broker continuing education course on Real Estate Law. If you haven't been to Erie, I strongly recommend you visit. The beach is amazing! They don't call them Great Lakes for nothing. At my motel a few miles from the beach, I walked my dog at a small marsh. There were red wing blackbirds and I even saw several Great Blue Herons! Erie has lovely homes and warm, welcoming people. Close by is PA Route 6, with miles of beautiful scenery and antique, craft shops and art … (0 comments)

pa: 1543 Mayland, only $129,9000, a Philadelphia NSP (neighborhood stimulus program) house - 10/30/10 07:57 AM
  MLS#5775264
$129,900. Thanks to Obama administration stimulus money, Philadelphia is recycling and doing thorough quality rehabs of neglected houses as part of its Neighborhood Stabilization Program. 1543 Mayland has been totally rehabbed for energy efficiency with new windows, new doors, new furnace, new Energy Star appliances, all new wiring, new insulation. Buyers who meet generous income guildelines and complete a short housing counseling program will get a high quality home that is 20% more energy efficient than similar homes...so it will be cheaper to maintain. Because the house had to meet high standards, buyers will get a better house than … (0 comments)

pa: Elegant, Scrumptious, Fine Dining in Philadelphia---Surprise: It's Vegan! - 09/03/10 12:32 PM
It has literally been years that I have been meaning to try a Vegan restaurant called Horizons. When I first heard of it, it was in Willow Grove and I was not exactly sure where. To me, "vegan" corresponds with tie die and sitar music, but the person who recommended it was a normal, middle aged successful realtor and I always support vegetarian options, so I kept it in mind. Wasn't it the movie Annie Hall where Woody Allen makes fun of The Golden Carrot (really The Source Restaurant) on Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Hey Angelinos. Is The Source still sitting … (1 comments)

pa: New Food Co-op in Chestnut Hill, PA - 08/30/10 12:48 PM
For 30 years, the food co-op in the Mount Airy section of Philadelpha was where everybody in Mt. Airy would meet. What a great store. If you had a neat new recipe with an odd ethnic ingredient, chances are the co-op would have it. I especially loved going there during blizzards. Lots of the staff lived nearby. You could always get hot chocolate and marshmallows and soup or ingredients for soup. The had real special ethnic bagels. Weird shaped, real boiled bagels. Well, when the grandma, specialty grocery....we deliver....store went bankrupt in Chestnut Hill....down the road....the co-op bought it! It took … (1 comments)

pa: CSA coming to Erdenheim, PA - 03/08/10 05:16 AM
Hey Erdenheim....it is a tiny nook outside Chestnut Hill, PA. One of our neighbors has offered his house as a drop off point for Red Earth Farm...You buy a share or half a share in the farm produce in the spring and you get a box of produce every week through the summer and fall. Red Earth also has eggs and yogurt...and you have the option of going online to choose which food you like. I love love love kale...but a lot of people don't, so with this option, you won't get anything that you don't want. www.redearthfarm.org.

pa: Chestnut Hill, PA Named Distinctive Destination by National Trust! - 02/19/10 02:15 AM
Only 12 places in America were designated to the National Trust for Historic Preservation's list of Distinctive Destinations! Chestnut Hill was chosed because of it's historic architection...elegant Victorians and the famous Louis Kahn house that people come from all over the world to see. Chestnut Hill has almost perfect "walkability", with a variety of markets, shops, restaurants, boutiques, doctors, dentists, banks and bakeries. You absolutely do not need a car. Trains and busses to Center City are within walking distance. Picturesque Pastorius Park is a gathering spot for dog lovers. In the summer, there are free outdoor concerts. And the true … (1 comments)

pa: Will No VOC Paint help me sell my Mt. Airy PA listing? - 03/31/09 06:14 AM
I have a new listing in Mt. Airy, a super neighborhood in northwest Philadelphia bordering the gorgeous Wissahickon Park. Mt. Airy has a successful food co-op (Weavers Way) and a lot of "crunchy" people. I use that term fondly--proud to be crunchy myself (EcoBroker, NAR Green designation)! Mt. Airy is mentioned in one of my favorite books Bill Bryson's hilarious A Walk In The Woods (about Bryson's adventures hiking the Appalachian Trail). Mt. Airy has even been featured on Oprah because it was one of the first neighborhoods where African Americans and others lived happily and voluntarily in diversity. The seller of the property is … (0 comments)
