Gail, Royalty free music is also FOR SALE. It just means that it's a one time purchase, no royalties have to be paid thereafter. Then you can use it as you wish, because you have purchased the right to use it. When you buy a CD,  it is for personal use only. Not commercial, nor can it be reproduced for distribution whether there is monetary gain or not. Either is going to be OK for your personal use.

I can use it in my slideshow, as long as I do not intend to sell the show, or distribute the show. I can share the show in my personal blog. Now, I intend to enter this show in a contest. Therefore, I have contacted the artist and respectfully asked for his written permission to use this music. I have done this before, and the artists have been gracious about allowing permission for this purpose. I am hoping this one will too, as his music is an integral part of the success of the show.

This is the best I can come to understanding, being a lay person, and NOT an attorney! ;)

Good, sometimes I'm afraid I ramble! ;) If I can't get the music, I probably won't enter it - it's that important to the show in my opinion... I always put alot of thought and time into the music for my shows, and time the slides to the feel of the music.

My Colorado show won 3rd place in an international contest last year. It was good too, but this is the first with my own photographs ONLY. Lots of good work out there, so no guarantees!

Well now, that would nice, but not how it works! The judging is done by the folks at Photodex, makers of the software I use.

They receive hundreds of entries from users of their software all over the world. Knowing this, I was thrilled with my 3rd place win last year. Even tho I'm more of a 1st place type personality! LOL
