Short Sale closing diaster

Has anyone had this happen to them

Well today I was suppose to close on a property that was a short sale. I havre the sellers, and I was feeling good about the sale. Because it made a bad situtation better for them. They were able to avoid the wrath of the foreclosure.We were able to get a good price( and the buyer would have equity in the home,nice considering the market)

We were sitting at the closing table and the buyer forgot to bring his wife. He thought he could sign the papers with out her. The lawyer informed he she needed to be there. He said she was not happy he was buying the house and mother-in-law was sick. So lawyer said I wil go to your house and we can have wife sign there. Well the wife refused to sign saying she knew nothing about the purchase. So the closing did not happen and come to find out the buyer forged his wives name. The buyers agent sat right there while he forged the wives name.

What a mess. So many layers. Would love some feedback.
