I am really diggin' this gig!

I am an only child and they tell me that means that I am a combination of the first born, the middle child and the baby of the family all rolled into one package.  I am the mom of an only child and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.  Jordan is a great kid and since he was 11lbs 2oz at birth, he will always be an only child!  Where is this going you ask?  Well I have heard it said through the years that having one child is easy and having two children is easier...I always thought that was kind of insane, but I was too chicken to try it a second time!

Since I was too chicken to try the one kid is easy and two is easier gig as a parent, I have decided to try it in real estate brokerage instead!  So now I get to find out if brokering one office is easier...is brokering two offices easier?  HA!  Somehow I seriously doubt that whole theory will pan out.  In February my Mom and I partnered up and opened our own real estate office and that is coming along very nicely and today I was named the managing broker for our sister office in the next community...which is only twenty minutes away from my office and I live halfway in between the two offices, so the logistics are great.

I am not really expecting two offices to be easier than one, but I am optimistic and excited about the possibilities.  Fortunately we are in a rural area and these are small offices and the agents were extremely receptive to my appointment.  I have definitely found my niche and I love this crazy thing we do called real estate.  This only child is looking forward to guiding my real estate kids as they build successful real estate businesses while they grow personally and become great REALTORS.  I will keep you posted about how things progress...let the adventure begin!

Congratulations Jeani. Sounds like you're up for the challenge of a few more kids and I'm sure you'll do great. Best of luck and keep us posted.

Jeani, I see you have several designations. Which one do you use the most. my wife is a GRI but I am a fireman and it is hard to string that many days together to get the sessions in. I could do the E-Pro but i read the synopsis and i pretty much already do all that is listed. I'm sure it is more in-depth than what they listed. The CRS, now that intrieges me, I have a college degree and am the Broker Owner of EXIT Realty Pro in Canton, so it might be easier to get that any thing else. what is your opinion on these designations?

Michael,

I am passionate about everyone getting their GRI because it is such an awesome foundation for building a real estate business.  I was so impressed with my GRI experience that I am working toward becoming a GRI instructor.  I would say that the most bang for the buck lies in the CRS.  It teaches you a way of doing business.  I got so much out of the classes and I reference my text books often in my office and for training my agents because the material is just so compelling!  My instructor for two of my three required classes was Chuck Bode who is amazing!  I have taken two other classes in addition to go toward my RSPS (Resort and Second Home Property Specialist) designation which I am about to wrap up.  So to answer your question, I would highly recommend GRI and CRS but if time constraints are a challenge, I would invest in CRS and also the referrals from CRS are great!  They teach you as a CRS to always refer to another CRS...I have had good luck with this program.  I have my e-pro which you can do online, so it is self paced and on your schedule and it was really good stuff.  I must say that I have learned almost as much during my time on activerain as I did in e-pro though!  :o)  Best of luck to you and get all the designations you can!  Education rocks!  Jeani
