Gerry--That is very cool! There were some albino white deer that were photographed around MN a few years ago but I have never seen one with blue eyes!

I'm guessing it's going blind like my dog.

Perhaps the Deer is the result of 5000 years of gene mutation so that they can survive better in the snow.

Teri,

Thank you for commenting.  I did not realize this deer had a blue eye when I saw it.  I only found out once I cropped the photo.  First one I have seen as well.

Tad,

It did not look by his behavior and the way he walked that he was going blind.   I hope not for this deer.

Lenn,

I like your explanation.   Thank you for visiting this post.

Very cool I have seen alot of deer up here in Northwest, MT but I have never seen a deer with a blue eye! Looks like you were able to get pretty close without spooking him great picture.

Mary,

This is the first one with a blue eye I saw.   He was in town and he was accompanied by a beautiful doe.

Cindy,

I managed to zoom in with my digital camera.  When I took this photo, he was about 30 feet away.  He was as curious to observe me as I was to observe him.   He did not mind me reaching for my camera to get this photo of him.    I cropped the photo to get the close-up of his face (2nd photo).

Jackie,

He sure was not spooked by my presence.   I got many good shots of him but this one is the one that shows his blue eye the best.   I did not know it had a blue eye till when I looked at the photo on my computer and cropped it.

Hi Gerry, beautiful shots, just lovely. Please be aware of the deer ticks as I'm sure you already are. Those ticks can carry a lot more than Lyme disease. I speak from my own experience.
