Growing Colonial Herbs
Workshop
Saturday, April 4th
10:00-12:00 a.m. Sargeant Museum

The Master Gardeners and the Louisa County Historical Society will host a workshop on Colonial-era herbs and how to grow them.  April is the ideal time to design and create new beds and plant herbs to add flavors to summer menus.

The workshop will focus on growing these old fashioned herbs in home gardens, with suggestions for amending soil types, herb combinations and garden design.   Master Gardener, Martha Neff-Smith, will present the workshop and demonstrate how to create a container herb garden for limited spaces.  She will be available to answer questions about soil conditions and individual plant's needs.

Saturday, April 4th from 10:00-12:00 at the Sargeant Museum of Louisa County, 214 Fredericksburg Ave. Louisa (Next to the Arts Center)  Admission is free.  Call 967-5975 for more information.

Sounds like fun!  Wish it were closer.  I'm a wannabe herb gardener from day one.  LOL

Now Kate, growing herbs in the garden is special. Something when harvested will next make the kitchen special.

Kate, herbs are so easy to grow and demand so little. I would recommend everyone with a gardening penchant at least try to grow a few.  Fresh herbs make your cooking intense with flavor.

Kate--Sounds like a great way to spend a  Saturday morning, but I live too far away.  I love your life preserver.  Reminds me of boating season--it's coming soon, right?  Mary
