The purpose of this letter is to bring to the attention to those of us who live in Orange County the fact that our part of the County is getting dirty. I am a resident of Oxford Depot and have lived at my current residence for the last 19 years, born in Goshen and grew up in Monroe. So I am not someone who moved into the area with something to complain about. Through the most recent years my wife and I have noticed so much trash along side of all the roads from Monroe to Montgomery. It is so sad to take a nice drive in the country only to look at cans, bottles, magazines and old shopping bags. What is going on? Are we that lazy that we can't put trash in the trash cans? Can't we all be a little more careful and clean up our county? I'm so tired of hearing this "going green" mantra when our neighborhood looks so trashy. We want to "save the planet" and we can't even keep our back yard cleaned up.
One other thing that is driving me crazy is the fact that the exit sign for Oxford Depot, exit 128, was knocked down about three years ago and there is sits on the bank. So we want to put in the new interstate 86 for all those tourist to come through our towns on their way to the casinos in Monticello but we can't put an exit sign back up that was knocked down? I've traveled through so many states from New York to California and I'm amazed at how nice the highways look in our country. Orange County, let's step it up.
