Strike 3! Am I out?

By
Education & Training with Fsbo HotSheet LLC

Hello everyone, I love the pix of my son because it reminds me of what I'm grateful for each day. It also reminds me of his baseball games, and the funny things that happen.

For example, each player gets 3 tries to hit the ball pitched by the coach...if they miss three times...they have to go back to the dugout. What's great about watching  a 6 year old is that they don't understand the concept of being out...or failing.

My son, after swinging 3 times and missing, will stay at the plate wanting more pitches...he doesn't know he's failed and wants to try again...oblivious to being out.

Does this ring a bell? In our real estate business , do we try a few times then give up. We'll call a Fsbo lead once or twice, can't get an appointment and quit!. We'll then call a few expireds , fail to set an appointment and quit. By then, we have given in to what we believe doesn't work and confirm that our efforts are a waist of time, and stop looking for new prospects.

Don't strike yourself out each day...get to the plate and keep swinging, again, again and again - get obliviuos to your definition of failing.

I'm in the business of coaching and training Real Estate Agents across the US and Canada...and I see agents everyday swing and miss and call it quits way too early. So here's a great daily action plan for today...just try this today:

1. Call 5 Fsbo's today

2. Call 5 Expireds today

3.  Call 5 past clients today

4. Call 5 leads and ask for an appointment

5.  Take 1 hour and go to the gym - don't flake on this one!

6. Go home tonight and get down on your knees and hug your kids, look them in the eye and tell them you love them - then do the same with your spouse (you can stand up for this one).

Strive to be consistently better each day - you don't have to kill yourself and work 15 hrs a day. However work the above plan for the next week and focus on the plan and executing it each day.

Focus on the plan, and executing the plan each day, and the results will follow.

Have a great week!

Great advice.  Consistency is the key in being successful.  You have to get the name out there.

Hi Dean, This sounds like a great plan.  What a cute little guy you have there!  Congratulations on the gold star, both of them!  This is the first double feature I have seen.

Dean, Many years ago (1990) when my husband and I wanted to buy our second home I thought a 90K mortagage was too high so I made it my mission to reduce it by 10K. I cold called until I spoke with 20 people every day, no more, no less, which is how I was able to continue. I raised my 10K and a little more as I recall. This is not a recommendation to cold call but to do something proactive every day and do it consistently, just as your post suggests.

What a fantastic post! I love the analogies you presented. What a cutie. I was always told in sales you need to be like the 2 yr. old that doesn't ever give up trying to get what they want!! LOL! Have a great day!

Dean, I can't make the gym, today - too busy shoveling snow - that should count, shouldn't it? :-)

Thanks for reminding us of some things to do to jump start our business.

I have noticed this same "persistence" with our little ones too.

In fact I would say that persistence is what separates those who achieve and those who don't.

Great post, Dean.  Beautiful son!  Great analogy.  It is important to consistently work the business every day.  You made that point perfectly clear and are totally right.  I come from a musical background and was always told: "Practice doesn't make you perfect.  Perfect practice makes you perfect."

Someteimes you just have to set a plan, a goal and then execute. If it fails today, it might not tomorrow.

it's sometimes so simple, yet we make it so complicated.

Thanks
