Denver Blizzard March 26, 2009

Fifteen inches of snow in Broomfield, with drifts over 3 feet were a challenge to everyone yesterday. The roads were jammed as the snow hit right at morning rush hour. On Wadsworth at the US 36 Denver-Boulder Turnpike a RTD bus slid sideways blocking the bridge for South bound traffic. This led to chaos on US 287.

The turnpike got shut down from Broomfield to Boulder.  This morning all the major roads are clear and moving. The moisture is sorely needed and the fire danger is gone for a while anyway.

Springtime in the Rockies, you gotta love it!

I know I was shoveling 3 feet plus off the driveway.  I agree with Stuart - sun was shining in the afternoon and much of the snow was melted the next day.  I love Colorado - what a great place to live!

Since my garage sits at the back of my house, I have a very long driveway.  Also, the house faces north.  Between the snow accumulation and the wind, I had drifts up to my knees and since my car simply refused to climb that mountain of snow that had built up, it sat in the driveway for two days.  I did manage to shovel my sidewalks so my neighbors could walk to the store easily and then I called a grandson to aid and assist.  It took him a bit over two hours but he did a beautful job and even pulled my car into the garage.  All it cost me was two bowls of homemade chicken soup and a little orange juice.

I agree with the blogger - snow, wind, summer one day and winter the next - it's Colorado and I love it.
