Educating Buyers

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage

When I first attended Colorado State University I thought I was going to be a teacher.  I thought that was going to be in a classroom with high school students.  That didn't happen but I do get the opportunity to educate.  It takes time but it is worth it.

With first time buyers I talk about all the reasons to consider owning vs. renting.  We explore their long and short term plans, career, family....  I spend a little time talking about any downsides of buying for their personal situation.  If they wish to continue I talk them through the whole process of buying.  We discover their own unique wants and needs.  I generally spend 1 to 2 hours with every first time buyer to prepare them for what's to come so they don't have to be surprised each step of the way.

With more seasoned buyers I still take the opportunity throughout the process to be sure that the buyers are up to speed, if they have questions we address them when they come up.

Today the landscape changes regularly.  I educate myself so that I can educate others.

Please let me help you with your Real Estate needs.

Hi David - Taking the time to make sure your buyers understand the process is important.  There's a little bit of "teacher" in all of us.  The important part is to understand where your clients are in their learning curve and then take them forward from there.  Good job.
