10,000 points, is this a milestone?

Mortgage and Lending with Mercury Lending

So I have been actively participating on Active Rain for the 2 days short of 1 month.  I just hit 10,000 points today, and searched on google for San Francisco Loan Officer, and I am fourth on the list!  Now, earlier today, I was on the second page.

Is this because of breaking 10,000 points I have gotten a little more strength on this site?  Is it my position ranking in the local areas that are getting better?  Why is it that I am on there more?

Believe me, I am excited, I just want to know so that I can exploit that a little more!  Is there anywhere we can see the formula to build strenght on Active Rain, because obviously it translates to the search engines.

Input is greatly appreciated, and the truth is, my results are yet another testimonial to the effect this site will have for people around the county.

Congratulations on your success!!!!!   Can you elaborate a little more on your technique during the month to acquire 10,000 points?  Also, where were you on the google ranks prior to the month?  I am fairly new to the site but I also would like to know how this could translate into building our web presence.

Keep on blogging it will help you with the search engines, The only thing bad about blogging is coming up with topics to write about.

Way to go.  Getting 10,000 points can take a while.  The key is to keep going at a good pace.  Take care and have a great day.

Thank you both.  It is fun, but kind of intimidating.  I want to be a good blogger, but it takes a lot of work.

Kimberly,

What I am doing is reading a lot of the SEO blogs.  What I have focused on is blogging on things that present some "Local" flavor, and people will look for in your local area.  Hence the importance of Localism.com, which if you choose to blog, you should be posting relevant local blogs there as well.  So to get to 10,000 point, a majority was through blogging, I try to do one per day.  Think about topics while driving, showering, whenever.  I do most of it in my 1 hour commute to work, lot's of brainstorming time!  I also have linked to active rain in a couple different sites, those are some points, and then commenting as much as you can without seeming redundant, and then all of a sudden you are there!  You can do it!

Jason and Daniel,

Thanks a lot for the encouragement.  I have written a blog on another website about ideas for blogging.

Real Estate Agents-Horror Stories, Perfect situations, Great Clients and what they do for you, What you are seeing in your market (remember there are investors all over this site, you can be an agent for them in your area if deals come along)

Investors- What do you look for in a property?  How do you finance usually if you do?  Everyone wants to be an investor, give us your insight.

Painters- Tell me a little about paint.  What are the advantages or disadvantages to water based vs. oil based.  What are some of the tools that make your life easier?  What are the typical costs per room?

Tilers- What are the differences between tiles?  What are some tips if people are doing it on their own?  How long does it take for a job?  What tools are necessary for your job?

Tech People - I have seen articles and books on SEO and topics like that.  What are the realities of SEO and how else can I get my website noticed and improve traffic overall?

Motivational Speakers - Motivate and Inspire me!!!!!

Title and Escrow - What is the difference in cost between companies, what are the typical costs?  What do some companies do that others don't?  Are there horror stories?

Cleaning Services - Why hire someone to clean my house when I can do it myself? How much does it cost to clean a 1000 square foot house 1 per week?  What do you clean, how does it work?

Stagers - What are the key points to avoid when staging your house?  How much do your services usually run, and what is the return upon sale usually?  How long does it take to stage a home?

Contractors - What is a typical kitchen remodel?  If I had $20,000 to spend, where could I see the most improvement?  How long does a kitchen remodel usually take?  How do I rip out a wall, and be sure that I am not screwing up?

Photographers - Inspire me with your pictures, maybe I can show you some of mine!  Photographers have it easy, just let us see your work, you don't even have to write!!

These are just some ideas per field.  I like just looking around, picking out an object on my drive to work or in my office, and see if I can make it work somehow.  Maybe that is a little weird, and maybe I am not the best blogger, but it does help get me ideas.

I guess before AR I could really only be found by typing my name or website in, you couldn't search by keywords and get noticed.  I am working on two key niches.  San Francisco Loan Officer, and San Francisco Home Loan, and once those get working, which they are, I will work on implementing other keywords as well.

So in short, no keyword recognition before, now, page 1 in SAN FRANCISCO for San Francisco Loan Officer, and page two first line, for San Francisco Home Loan, a tough, highly technological and saturated, blogged area.  Now I just need some business from it. :)
