Regulation of vacation rentals within the Village of Islamorada has gotten a reprive while property owners now take thier case to the 1st District Court of Appeals in Tallahassee. The Village recently passed policy that limits the number and location of properties for rent less than 28 days at a time. They also want to impose an annual licensing fee of $1,000 per home. At issue is the rights of the property owners which were not really argued during the first case. The attorney for the owners is hoping to be able to argue property rights and how they will be impacted when the case is heard in Tallahassee.
