Governor Sarah Palin has appointed Anchorage attorney, Wayne Anthony Ross as Alaska's attorney general.
Palin stated that "with his vast legal knowledge, experience and integrity, he will make an exceptional attorney general."
Ross is the very same attorney who referred to gays as "immoral" and "degenerates" in a letter her wrote several years ago to the Anchorage Bar Association newsletter. This was in opposition to an anti-discrimination ordinance being supported by several Anchorage lawyers who were advocating gay rights.
The fact that Palin chose such an individual as Alaska's attorney general is not surprising given her comments on gay rights and her support for a federal ban on gay marriage. Palin has expressed her disagreement with Alasks's Supreme Court's ruling that spousal benefits be extended to same-sex couples.
