Gather your team for the 10th annual bed race along Pineapple Grove. The "hometown, get down" event in Delray Beach, the race is presented by Pineapple Grove Main Street, Inc. and is presided over by Queen Wackona, whose identity is a well-kept secret. The fun activities feature a jubilant parade beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the bed race running from 6-8 p.m. Prizes will then be awarded to the most creative team entry and this is followed by great musical entertainment in the streets. To celebrate the past 10 years, the event committee is inviting all past winners to compete to attempt to regain their titles. Coach Howard Schnellenberger will be bringing an entry from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and is coaching his team. Be there to cheer on your favorites.
Parade participants will form up in the parking lot at Ocean City Lumber (behind Bru's Room Sports Grill) and at 5:30 p.m, begin their colorful trek up Atlantic Avenue, east to Pineapple Grove Way and proceed north on Pineapple Grove to Northeast Second Street and west to the parade's conclusion. At 6 p.m., it's "gentlemen, start your beds" on Pineapple Grove Way (Northeast Second Avenue), between Northeast First and Northeast Second streets.
