Addison Cops Are Physically Fit!

Real Estate Agent with United Real Estate TX #0552717

If you get pulled over in Addison, think twice about out-running the local police!Addison Police

Every police officer in Addison must earn at least a "satisfactory" evaluation AND pass the entry level physical fitness test before a pay raise is granted.  That includes the Chief of Police and the other senior managers!   The only other department in the state that has a continuing fitness requirement is the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Here's the Addison Police Department Fitness Test:

Test                                                Standard

1.5 mile run                         17:48 minimum time

300 meter run                      73.8 seconds

1 RM bench press                  Push 67% of your body weight

Maximum push up                20

1 minute sit up                     32

Vertical jump                        13 inches

While it is not a difficult test, it does require the officers to maintain a reasonable fitness standard.  Could you pass it?

Those are horrible requirements, except for the mile and a half run under 18 minutes.  I run a 12 minute mile on a good day, so I would be cutting it close, but I've never run in order to chase bad guys, and could probably come in under that time... but at least there are some kind of requirements.  The "heavy" cops make me wonder how they run after bad guys.

Hi Lorrie... I guess that means to be a police officer in Addison I would have to give up my sedentary lifestyle... now that would be a dilemma!
