When Your Hut's on Fire!

Real Estate Agent with TOVIJE Enterprises, Inc.
I just finished reading and commenting on an inspiring "true-life" post by Maggie Dokic that should help many of us continue to have faith in our choice to maintain our status as a REALTOR.  Read it and you'll see.

The life and times of a REALTOR are challenging enough without drastic economic changes impacting our market places. Today, our profession is more challenged than ever with markets declining and continued negative press

Even the Real Estate Giants, who appear above the risk range, are reporting sharp concern for the negative impacts to their business.

For Maggie and for all of us, I share this comforting story that appeared recently in my email inbox....from an unknown author....on a day when I needed the inspiration.....perhaps you know someone who would be warmed by the message also:

 hut on fire

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited
island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him.

Everyday he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.
Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to
protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.

One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut
in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had
happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief,
and anger. He cried out, "God! How could you do this to me?"

Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the
island! It had come to rescue him!

"How did you know I was here?," asked the weary man of his rescuers.

"We saw your smoke signal," they replied.

The Moral of This Story:

It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't
lose heart, because God is at work in our lives.... even in the midst of
our pain and suffering. Remember that the next time your little hut seems
to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the
Grace of God.

P. S. You may want to consider passing this on, because you never know who
feels as if their hut is on fire today.

Louann this a great story. My hut is burning brightly right now! I just have to keep telling myself there is a reason for it, I just don't know why yet. Thanks for posting this.

Selling Florida one home at a time

Hey Louann, I really felt for Maggie when I read her post earlier. She comes across as such a optimistic, intelligent and a really nice person. I truly hopes she makes it over this hump. I do know her hut is burning brightly right now.

Hey I just noticed that's me in your link!! I appreciate the compliment but I am just a small time hard working broker. No giant. Like others I too am struggling with this market. I am fortunate though that I am established and have been for years so it does make it easier but no less frustrating. But this too shall pass. It always does.  I do feel for my sellers though. I have several that really need to sell asap and it just ain't happening. It's a bad feeling when I can't help.

I keep missing your posts so I have just subscribed to your blog. Now I'll catch your smiling face when yo post. This place is soooo big these days.

Danielle: I believe that too, that everything happens for a reason...sometimes it is hard to see at the time, but it all ends up good. Thanks you for commenting.

Ashley: Keep a positive attitude Ashley...I've been through many times when I can't figure out the WHY of the situation and it is so frustrating, especially as Bryant says below when you "can't help". Active Rain and all the Rainers help us to cope. Thanks for commenting.

Bryant: Well, you may be a just a small time hard working humble broker...but you are a GIANT in my mind as I am sure you are in others. Giants are not just big in stature or profits, but more importantly... in wisdom and kindness and you have loads of both.  I know what you mean about the sellers...most of my management contracts (for rentals) are sellers who can't sell. Thanks for subscribing to my blog...gee willikers! I am honored!  AND YES! THIS PLACE IS SOOO BIG THESE DAYS! See you in the blogs.......

Louann, how very sweet of you to mention me.  Thank you.  I'm sorry I am so late getting here.  I've subscribed, just like Broker Bryant, so I don't miss your posts.  This is a very inspiring story.  I think my hut fire called in the rescue squad.  I'm doing much better now.  Thank you.
