Here in the Seattle Area we have a great restaurateur, Paul Mackay and the amazing Mackay Restaurant Group. The 1st time I ate at his El Gaucho Steakhouse, I was a hooked. I haven't I looked at food the same way since and enjoy dining at all of their establishments. That was 1997, now when I eat a steak El Gaucho is my point of reference. I have traveled quite a bit, and the one thing that I always look for when I travel is a great place to eat. That way when I go back, I know where I am going. Plus, I love sharing this info with friends and family.
So when I received this email that one of his restaurants was closing I was surprised:
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closing of the Sea Grill.
Sunday, March 29, 2009 was our last day of operation. The management
team and staff would like to thank all of our guests not only for their continued
loyalty and support, but for allowing us to help celebrate the pivotal moments
and chapters of their lives that helped to write the story of Sea Grill.
The experiences we've shared have become memories of our
own lives that we will take with us forever.
Thank you for being an integral part of this experience."
My wife and I had just recently had eaten at the Tacoma Sea Grill on a Friday Night and I did notice that the usual staff had decreased. The manager was walking around to all the occupied tables checking on his guest. At the time I didn't think much of it, their service has always been top notch. I just figured he had some extra time but now looking back, it was quite empty. More casualties of the economy.
I am sad to see them go. We still have the Tacoma location of El Gaucho so if you are in town, stop in and enjoy!
