Woodland Park Saddle Club Comes to Divide Colorado

The Woodland Park Saddle Club is moving to Divide Colorado.  The Divide Chamber of Commerce will hold a public meeting Divide & Woodland Park Saddle ClubWed. April 8th at 6p.m. at Killday's Deli which is behind Venture foods in Divide. The Woodland Park Saddle club has recently acquired 35 acres in Divide. Current plans envision a facility including a massive indoor arena, an outdoor arena with lights and a speaker system, a clubhouse that may eventually serve alcohol, holding pens, hay storage areas, parking areas and an eventual residence for a caretaker.

The move is prompted by the desire of the saddle club to build an event center which will bring hundreds of people to local livestock, horse and rodeo events. I image some music will also eventually filter into the all season venue. Previously, the saddle club was located in the middle of Woodland Park at the Old Railway Station stop. Due to that land being acquired by the Downtown Development Authority of Woodland Park, the Saddle Club was moved to a 23 acre location next to the new Walmart. The reason for not placing the saddle club at this location is a local issue. But, for whatever reason they have decided I think it is a smart move to take this Equestrian endeavor back to the country side.

If you are a local don't miss this meeting.

Hi Sabrina, This sounds like a wonderful move for the saddle club.  The plans for a music venue would bring a lot of interest, too!

Hey Sabrina! This is great.  I think having the rodeo grounds in Divide is a great idea, and I'm glad they did too. I think it will be alot fun once it's back up and running, and I'm really looking forward to it, as I'm sure many in our community are.I won't be able to make it to the meeting, but if you go, say hey to Kyle for me!

Howdy there Sabrina

Sure don't think it would be good for The Saddle Club, to have to be next to a Wal-Mart. Being in the country sure is a lot better for them, and the folks that come to visit the goings on's. Let us know how the meeting went, to night.

I agree Dale. The Penrose equestrian center is CO. Springs is off a major st. and near a Walmart. Somehow, horses just smell better in the country side.

Hi Sabrina: I dunno - I think it might be a good idea to put it in the outskirts - wouldn't it draw more people if it were closer to where the people are or am I just being to citified?

Divide is only 8 miles from Woodland Park and approx. 21 from Colorado Springs. The Divide saddle club will eventually be a facility which will require more space than the area where the Saddle club had orginally planned to move. The 35 acres in Divide is also more suitable land and surrondings than the 23 acres in Woodland Park.
