Hi folks,
There is a very kick a.. new SEO tool that is basic enough to help even novices get better search rank on their own sites.
It is called SEO Quake and it is a tool bar add on for the FireFox search engine. Here is a screen shot of what it looks like.
How to use it: Just download the extension and then type in any search (example Toledo real estate) You will see all of the search results, plus all of thier useful SEO stats. How many links they have, Page Rank, age of site, etc.
So there are two things you can do with this information.
1. Know the basic minimums that will get you above your competitors.
2. Look at who your competitors are linking to and try and get similar links. You can also google your desired link sources and see if they are sound sites to seek links from.
Caution: No Search engine scenario is like another. So you may see some infomation that doesnt jibe with what makes sense (that just comes from experience). Also, the age of a domain will factor into a rank, but there is nothing you can do about it if you have a new domain. So dont let that stop you from going all out.
