CONFESSIONS OF A TWISTED TWITTERER!

My first exposure to Twitter was sometime last November.

ACTIVERAIN WAS DOWN!

ActiveRain was down when I logged on.

ActiveRain was down when I went out to make a run to the bank and Post Office box.

ActiveRain was down when I returned.

ActiveRain was down when I caught up on e-mail.

ActiveRain was down when I returned phone messages.

ActiveRain was down ALL DAY!

Sunday.

ActiveRain was still down. I spent the day cleaning house, EEEEEKKKKK, not my favorite thing. I actually vacuumed the entire main level of my home.

I got e-mail from Carolyn Tann-Starr advising me to go to Twitter and join the conversation with other Rainers.

Twitter. What do I know of Twitter? Nothing.

I couldn't figure it. However, I apparently joined, established a profile, etc. Sadly, I couldn't find any one or any thing of interest or relevance. So, I dropped it.

Last week, a post by an ActiveRain member inspired me to take another look at Twitter. I joined and figured it out - to a degree.

NOW I FIND THAT I HAVE TWO TWITTER ACCOUNTS.

So, please help me out here and join me on Twitter on my most recent account which I have populated with some content, but just getting started.

I still don't quite "get it"!

But, being a 21st Century gal, I'm giving it a try. So, I would greatly appreciate a little help from my ActiveRain friends.

Join me on Twitter (the most recent account).

I'll reciprocate and we'll be able to follow each other. Who knows? Perhaps I'll figure it out.

P.S. "Tootiepunk"was my nickname when I was a child. given to me by my beloved maternal grandfather who made this city girl into a country girl and taught me to fish and shoot early in my life and gave me a love of the outdoors. I was the oldest grandchild and got my grandfather's attention. My sister was "Punkietwo".

Lenn I clicked to follow you but can't. I am following 2000 people and when you hit that 2000, you have to wait until the same follow you then you can follow again - huh? Lenn - At 34, I struggled and resisted Twitter. Now I find I go there more than facebook. I've started to really enjoy it, but it took lots of time and I still don't fully "get it"! But, the learning process has been fun!

Lenn: I think it's important to be up-to-date and aware of all the marketing tools available to us. It's very easy for me to Tweet once early in the morning. It takes a few seconds. Ultimately time will tell if it works or not. We are a restless society so the chances of people tweeting consistently for years are low. Something else will come along to occupy our short attention spans!

Lenn - I will follow you anywhere you are still my hero. I have watched people over the years with twitter. They all say the same thing when they first see it and I said the same thing too. I don't get it. I just checked my account and I have been using it for two years but I think during the first six months I mostly ignored it. I have met some wonderful people through Twitter. I can go anywhere in the country now and I know someone. Twitter has also helped me get to know people I already new a bit better. Some of my neighbors use it and I am finding that we have more contact and have gotten to know each other a bit better. Twitter has also taught how to say most anything in 140 characters. :) a useful skill for sure.

Teresa. One of the reasons I joined Twitter was learning that the messages could only be 140 characters. One wouldn't know it from my ActiveRain posts but pithy is a talent I seek.

I love pithy.

I had a printer problem yesterday and sent a tweet about it. Within 5 minutes, someone local that had been following me called me with a solution! It's a powerful community so just hang with it, and you'll become addicted like the rest of us ;-D @MichiganMoves

Frankly, the jury is out on a time management decision. I need to see a direct connection between one thing and another and it has to be superior to what I know I must continually do to keep my web sites UP.
