Saturday, May 19,2007 the Brainerd National Guard and the 194th Tank Regiment are hosting an Armed Forces Day. The Bataan Memorial March consists of a 10 mile or a 20 mile route. Participants can walk or run and participate as individuals or as a group effort. You can carry the pack or not.
As part of the celebration, the Minnesota National Guard will display a M1A1 Main Battle Tank, a Bradley Fighting Vehicle, Artillery pieces, support vehicles and command vehicles. The public can touch and crawl on them at will - adults included.
There will be many other activities including a rock-climbing wall, obstacle course, and a NASCAR simulator.
Admission is free. Everything starts and ends at the Brainerd National Guard Armory.
Time:
- Bataan March Opening Ceremony at 8:30 am
- Bataan March begins at 9:00 am
- Armed Forces Day Celebration from noon-6:00 pm
- Baatan Wreath laying Ceremony at 4:00 pm
- Bataan March Closing Ceremony at 4:30 pm
Join us in giving a big salute to the Bataan survivors and men of the 194th Tank Battalion, the 439 deployed soldiers of 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 194th Armor Regiment ( which is headquartered in Brainerd) and all the brave American men and women who have served their country and fought for freedom!!
