Day 4 ~ Visit a blog in your niche

By

Day 4 - 31 days to build a better blog - The task is to "Analyze a successful blog in your niche"....

analyze this ~ Kristin Moran

I certainly didn't have to go far to accomplish this task.  I do this everyday just by hanging out on AR.  I read through the comments on Darren Rowse's site & was intrigued.  I think I (narrow mindedly) figured most bloggers there were Real Estate.....WRONG!

All kinds of folks are doing the challenge; health & wellness, chefs, professional bloggers, photography & those that have a problem finding their "niche" to compare their blog to.

Interesting.

I feel lucky to be amongst so many exceptional Real Estate bloggers that I feel I learn something new from everyday (yes, everyday!).  I know I have my personal favorites.  I like a variety of things when I go in search of what I will read that day.  I like to read witty, funny, thought provoking, educational & serious blogs AND believe it or not, I like to read about what is going on in your neck of the woods (Real Estate related or not!).

I personally don't care how much Real Estate related material you write or how much you don't.  I care that you are using your resources to network & market yourself to the best of your abilities.  Because of ActiveRain, when I have a referral in almost any state I know exactly who will get that referral just because of what I know from your online presence.  That's a ton to learn (& trust) about someone just from their blog!

I'm a little off topic here but since I feel I analyze blogs in my "niche" everyday I am going to venture out into what the rest of the world is writing about!  There was a comment from a gal on Darren Rowse's blog who's niche is the "transition from bride to wife" HUH?  Off to learn what I don't know!

Guess I missed the last 3 days - better go catch up.  I do try to take a peak at others blogs once in a while, but I have to find my niche so I know who to look at.

Hi Kristin~ I am with you!  I learn so much in here every single day! Not only do I learn, but I am loving every single minute of it and getting business at the same time.  It doesn't get any better than that!  I also have referred quite a few clients to others in activerain.  I feel as if I know these rainers already and what they are capable of.  I can't hand off my clients to just anybody!  Only Rainers will do!

As a relative newbie, I mainly focus on other AR bloggers but it sounds like a good idea to check out what non RE professionals are doing as well. I don't know if you are a basketball fan, but I saw Tim Duncan walk right by me at a restaurant the other night when they were in Cleveland. He's much taller in person.

I have been a member of AR for a year now. I am so amazed at how much I have learned in just one year from so many wonderful people who are willing to share, teach and  blog. I love the concept of 31 days to build a better blog and am looking forward to reading more of your updates.

Kristin- That is awesome !  It is amazing how many other types of blogs are out there.  Let us know what you think of "bride to wife" blog : )  .  And you are right, it is great that we are part of the Active Rain community as we do get the opportunity to experience each other's blogs and learn from each other the moment we join.  One of my goals will be to also get out there and network with other bloggers outside of the niche.  And at the same time, stay connected to people like yourself here in our niche to stay constantly connected and learn something every day.  Great post !

Kristin - Visiting Active Rain on a daily basis is an opportunity every time you log into AR. WOW what an array of material to choose from. It goes from Wordless to Fun to Serious  to Sad and Oh so many friendships have been developed. Like a blog I put out one time called reaching across state lines we reach folks in every state and AR has allowed this to happen.

Marlene - Thanks ma'am!!  I KNOW you are my Laguna girl!

Bridget - I took it as my niche as Real Estate, not narrowed down to "short sales" or "retirees", etc.

Vickie - EXACTLY !  I said that today (out loud) and felt badly.  I thought, I am going straight to AR to pick my referall person, not the RE/MAX website.

Kristin-I haven't posted in awhile due to the pure chaos in my life right now, but I always try to take a few minutes to hop on AR and read.  I hope that I am never to tired to try to learn something new and AR is a perfect place to do just that.

Hey, just lnokiog around some blogs, seems a pretty nice platform you are using. I’m currently using WordPress for a few of my sites but lnokiog to change one of them over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would recommend about it?
