East Bay Economic and Construction Forecast

By
Commercial Real Estate Agent with Commercial MasterMinds

A excellent synopsis of the East Bay economic picture can be found in the East Bay Monthly Analysis prepared by the East Bay Development Alliance - February 2009. It includes such information as payroll figures by metropolitan area, unemployment statistics and construction employment.

A snapshot of the East Bay for January 2009 shows unemployment went from 7.7 in December 2008 to 9.2, while home prices fell 38% in Alameda County with 52% in Contra Costa. Industrial construction permits increased and commercial construction permit values declined annually. There’s some great comparisons of the labor force in San Francisco, East Bay and San Jose, as well as employed residents by metro area.

For the entire analysis, go to http://www.eastbayeda.org/research_facts_figures/newsletter/monthly/2009/February2009MonthlyAnalysis.pdf

Be sure to scroll to the end of the analysis, where you can see graphs of commercial construction by East Bay towns and charts of the Dollar Value of Commercial and Industrial Permits Issued by Region.
