The Lorain Children's Community Collaborative on Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention has developed activities to inform Lorain County residents about the issue of child abuse during the month of April which is Child Abuse Awareness Month.
The fourth annual Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Conference will take place from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 15 at the Spitzer Center at the Lorain County Community College, 1005 North Abbe Road, Elyria.
The daylong conference will feature speakers on topics including internet crimes against children, human trafficking, fetal alcohol syndrome, shaken baby syndrome, treatment of sex offenders and trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy.
Registration includes continental breakfast, lunch and continuing education units.
Registration is $50.

In addition to the conference, as part of the "Pinwheels for Prevention" project, a display of over 1,500 pinwheels, a banner and reflection points will be displayed at give locations throughout the county.
"Pinwheels for Prevention" is a new nationwide campaign created by Prevent Child Abuse America and its state chapters.
Pinwheels will be on display today at the Avon Lake Police Department, 32855 Walker Road, and on April 14 and 15 at Lorain County Community College, 1005 North Abbe Road, Elyria.
The pinwheels will be on display all day long.
