UPSTAGING IDEAS - ACTIVELY MARKETING MY BUSINESS - STAGE 3

By
Home Stager with UPSTAGING YOUR HOMES

beginning stagingI have almost finished painting my 'market office', only a few spots to cover behind the gas stove and repair some over -the- lines I am always guilty of when I paint.  However I got bored painting and started bringing my things in and staging.  That's more fun. The inspiration for my paint colours was my biz card. I used BM rhubarb, which has been a favourite of mine for a few years now; plus a new spring colour, green stem, and harvest moon: the window wall has been painted in white sand - a softer, brighter color that does not fight with the art I will be placing there.

My accessories started selling as soon as I priced & displayed them.  Having never worked in retail before, I am using my business background and my love for design and accessories to choose the items I display at a price I would be comfortable paying for the same object.  So far so good.

This second shot shows my display beginning to take shape. I have since laid down some rag rugs that are colourful on the floor and added more accessories and art work.  It is coming along and fun to do.

I made a valuable contact yesterday while I was there with a local interior designer who does most of his work elsewhere and has accumulated a beautiful collection of furniture.  I had the opportunity to discuss the possibility of renting furniture from him to stage a vacant home.

In the meantime I am having fun and am glad I chose to do this.

My time commitment to the market and other displayers is only 1 day every two weeks as far as working a full day; the rest of the time I am free to come and go as my staging business permits.

I'll show you my window displays next time.

Hi Ashley,

Thank you for your comment.   You would love this place - there is anything and everything in home decor and furniture, plus antique jewellery, clothes, preserves.

Each vendor has a booth and we all take turns manning the store.  My booth looks much nicer now and I am planning on re-arranging things this week.  It has been so much fun being involved in the market.  I love my fellow vendors, I can get great deals from them for staging, and I have the opportunity to market my business to the customers who come in everyday.  Much cheaper option than advertising.

Hi,

Thanks for popping by.  What is fun is that it is a constant area for me to be able to stage!  Plus I meet potential new clients as they stroll thru the market.  I can give them advice when they ask, refer them to one of my contractors, hand out my business card & discuss the benefits of staging.  I love it.

Tanya,

Thanks for popping by!  I am posting new photos today of the new layout & inventory.  It is a great way for me to profit from items I bought for inventory or my home and then decided against.

I get to meet new people from around the world.  Love it!!

Hey Deena,

Calgary is not that far from the Coast!  This post is almost a year old.  It looks quite different with stock in it.

I have fun creating displays @ Ooh La La! and can use the stock I buy wholesale for staging.  I really like these great coloured plaques and used them a few times before they sold.

Thanks for dropping by Deena and hope to see you in person sometime soon.
