Growing Your Business/Empowerment: "Don't buy into them!"

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

I know what you are saying. What is she talking about? This message can go both ways -- it can be beneficial if you are an agent or if you are a buyer/seller. What I mean by "Don't buy into them" is when you the agent is desparate for cash, you've got bills coming your way or almost up to the neck and in desparate need for a client. You finally get a client but they are mean, irrational, dispondent, and not totally honest, cannot afford that much, have disparate credit, which of course some of these  we try to rise above that because as agents we take into consideration the client may be having personal issues healthwise, careerwise, familywise. However,  there are some of these we cannot ignore because we cannot do our jobs effectively but I am talking about after weeks of being in an agency and you have found out that the client will not give you much information about being approved or what type of repairs they have had on the home and so on and so forth. Okay, what do you do at this point? You want to develop a relationship so that you can provide the best type of service for them but they are not trying to be forthcoming, communicative, or listen to your advice at all. Do you continue to be (1) jerked around,  (2)  try to stick it out, or (3)  just say enough! My answer is choice (3). The reason I choose answer choice number (3) is because I believe good things come to those who wait.  As you can see I am very selective about who I service. That is why I think conducting an interview aka consultation is so important because I want to know that the client I am servicing almost representing a client that is honest, ethical, considerate & open to advice, and of character. ethical values and principles as me. I want to attract clients who possess similiar characteristics as I do. My desire and hope is that those clients with character I have serviced in the past will refer people of that caliver to me as well.

As for people interested in buying. The question I get by so many people is how is your business now that the economy is in a recession. I have to come realize that when people ask me this -- the reason they ask is because so many people are in fear! I give them my perspective but I do my best to dispel or alleviate their fear by explaining to them what the market is doing and to listen to the news but don't buy fully into the media. People will tell you what you want to hear;however, but get a good realtor to go over what your particular market is doing and then go from their.
