Transitioning to RE/MAX Vision

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Executive

This has been quite an unusual week for us!  We made the decision to switch brokerages recently and interviewed with several "big names".  We feel that having a big name brokerage behind you can help sellers feel more confident that they have a big company behind you.  We've read the comments about this from other agents and agree 100% - it's the agent that matters, not the company.  But it does go back to perception.  Some people won't shop at Walmart, they would rather shop at Macys because they don't feel they can get a superior product at Walmart, right or wrong.  So to have one more thing in our favor, we chose to affiliate with RE/MAX and chose the local Crofton office.  Another nice benefit is it is a couple minute drive and there's no traffic!  It was definately a big decision and commitment, but with the energy and vision of our new broker, the training and business planning that this particular office has in place, we feel he'll take us from good to great and that's where we want to be, the best we can possibly be.

We already ordered new yard signs, have to order directionals now, signed up for Brian Buffini's 100 Days to Greatness course - hopefully that will be inspiring, and are updating all of the websites we advertise on.

So far all of the reaction from people we have told is very positive, everyone says it is a very good career move.  Let's see if it really makes a difference in our business....

Is it going to impact your bottomline ie commission split at the beginning?  I'm sure the name and backing come at a price?

Did you consider EXIT?  I am not with them or anything, but I just wondered...

We actually left Exit to go to RE/MAX.  Unfortunately we came across too many people who said "who is that?"  "I've never heard of them, how are you going to sell my house".  I think Exit is a fine company, our former broker is a true professional and we split very amicably with his leaving the door open in case we would like to return.  My brother and mother are still in the same office and have no plans on leaving.  Exit was perfect for us when we first started and I would recommend them to new agents who are not in a position to pay office fees.  Exit is growing rapidly, so maybe soon we won't hear "who are they?" anymore?
