My friends that is my question and my dilemma. I decided to get my New York State license in 2006 after my daughter was born; at the time I thought it would be a great way to earn a little extra money to help make ends meet. I made a few sales and a few listings within my first year and the extra money was great. It gave me a real sense of accomplishment and the love for a career that I was just getting to know. I see these agents who are making a lot of money and they have control over their time. I am now into my third year of real estate and I really love it, in fact I like it more than being a school counselor. However due to the economy and the slump in housing sales I am unable to quit the school job to go after this new career that I really enjoy. My friends tell me that I should just continue to do both and they have said that now is not the time to quit my school job and I should wait until the economy turns around or just do real estate as a part timer. This is my dilemma the school that I am in is a small non-public private school that pays $25,000 to $35,000 dollars less than the public schools. I would quit and go to another school the only problem is that most school districts are getting rid of the guidance staff by not hiring new counselors after people retire or leave. So what does everyone think should I quit my school job and be a full time real estate professional or should I hold onto the school job for another year or two and see how the market is then?
