Suggestions for New Printer?

By

It's getting closer and closer to the time when I'm gonna have to buy a new printer for the home office.

The price of the consumables on my current printer are astronomical !   Heck I could buy a new printer for the cost of new toner cartridges!

So I thought to ask the group for suggestions for a printer for the home office?

This time I want to buy a printer that the consumables can be re-filled...that should help keep cost down.

My current printer is a laser jet but I could just as easily go bubble jet....I thought the Laser was going to be the cat's pajamas but I don't notice a huge difference.

Also,  if you can recommend an all in one machine...printer,scanner, copier fax....that uses the re-fillable cartridges that would certainly be worth looking into.

Thanks for any feedback you can provide with your recommendations of good printers.

Sincerely,

Kevin Higgins

Hi Kevin, I think it depends on what your printing needs are. If you want B&W I would go for the lazer, more expensive up front, but MUCH cheaper in the long run.

I dont print at home that often, trying to remain paperless. But I have an hp all in one 5610 that was cheap, and works great. (print, scan, copy, fax) you can even fax from your computer with out printing through the machine.

I think recognizing your requirements, then find something from Hewlett Packard.  HP has always come through for us.  :)

Good morning, Kevin.  I have two laser printers in my home office, and they both are great.  One is a color laser printer by Epson (AcuLaser Cx11NF).  That machine also functions as a scanner, copier, and fax machine.  It makes great copies in both black/white and in color.  The toner cartridges are fairly expensive, but they last for a long time.  They are much more cost effective than any ink jet printer I ever had.

I also have an HP laser printer (LaserJet 4200tn).  It prints very fast and provides excellent and fast black/white printing.  The toner cartridges are also expensive, but they last for, I think, about 40,000 pages.

I do a lot of printing and both of these machines have worked flawlessly for me for years.
